kjpepper: (this too shall pass)
I think I will indeed getting gam zeh ya'avor* (or more specifically the letters gimel, zayin and yud) as tattoo #2. Inside of right wrist and small, maybe an inch or so square. Thinking Ben can do this when I go to get the first one touched up, and it also seems like a fitting full-circle thing to do when I come back. My time in NY, parenthesized by tattoos in scripts I can't actually read...

Also, much as the first was a reminder and a warning to beware certain aspects of my nature running around unchecked, this is another reminder that nothing, bad or good, lasts forever. I have a bad habit of taking the good things for granted until they're gone and wallowing in the bad. Hopefully this'll help me to not do either.

Gods, tonight, except for one bit, was just full of the argh and facepalm.
  • It should not have been that hard to find an application, shareware, trial or freeware, that outputs extruded text in .3ds. I'm just saying.

  • related to the first, tonight seems to be the night for online creative stuff. Finally updated the dragonsea homepage... that was a bittersweet process, let me tell you. *sigh* at some point soon, I need to tackle my own web site... arghfllf 2004 era code.

  • related to the second... I should never devote that much time to refreshing my server's visitor logs. Really I should stop checking "300 most recent visitors" entirely. No good has ever come of it.

  • in cheerier news, I got told a story over Skype this evening. :)

  • the disadvantage to people removing themselves from reading your LJ.... you get things happening like [livejournal.com profile] morlock bringing me a bottle of NOS as an attempt to be cheer me up. lolfail. Ah well *puts away for Sunday*

  • trying really REALLY hard not to be bitter about Watchmen. It really isn't working.

  • I have a super secret mission in the works... here's hoping I can pull it off. If I can, that'll be amazing. If I can't, ah well, one more disappointment to the pile.

Well. This post just flamed out into negative and fail. I think that's my cue to cut it short and go to bed.

kjpepper: (kind hearted woman)
toying with the idea of having aku on my left shoulder and this on my right.

For those who don't know... a drawing of a smiling cat, sometimes with a heart drawn with or inside it, is the hobo sign for "a kind hearted woman lives here." In other words (or just in words, period), tell the lady of this house the right story and you just may score a free dinner.

It's seeming more and more like the story of my life.

No, not aimed at anyone in particular, I promise. And most of the time I like being that person. But today I'm a little sad about it is all... These days especially, I could use a free dinner or twelve myself. :P
kjpepper: (srsly...wtf?)
... from the wall of George Carlin obits. Maybe my friends list represents a particular humor demographic, but I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one with twelve entries out of the last 20 on that page being salutes to the cantankerously funny old man.

HOLY GOD. What possessed me to schedule four medical type appointments all on the same day? INR and actual blood draw this morning, then at 3:15 back to the hospital for a follow up with my hematologist, and then back down the hill for that appointment with chiquita banana that I missed last Wednesday. Oh yeah, and a busy workday too. Sheesh!

Well, INR is at least good - at 2.4. Ann's opinion regarding tattoos is that since if done right there isn't going to be a whole hell of a lot of bleeding, it should be okay, though she did say that none of my doctors were going to agree with her. (Love the honesty there.) She's going to research it more and get back to me next time I go in, which will be July 14th. So, if indeed it turns out I'm going to be on this stuff forever, what I'll have to do probably is have an INR the day before, my rat poison dose lowered accordingly, and make sure that whatever artist I end up going to (it'll most likely be Jeremy) is pretty fully briefed on the situation.

Blor. Need more coffee and to update my remember the milk stuff. I've been sorely neglecting my to-do lists.

Possible location: base of spine.

Here is draft 1. Feedback requested. Also if anyone can do a nicer rendition of the Aku character, let me know.

so... is this what I want on my back?

Welcome to the first thunderstorm of the season. As always in Northampton, this one rolled up at about 4 pm on a friday, the time I was planning to leave the office . . . I love t-storms mind you, but it's an entirely different thing to have to be out in one! It certainly made biking home interesting, as by the time I got to our house I was soaking wet and pretty damn near blind due to the water streaming down both sides of my glasses. Good thing the one huge pot hole in our street is pretty hard to miss, even under those conditions.

Other than getting drenched, a good day! I got stuff done and work and the day was topped perfectly when my boss brought in a box full of several different types of Girl Scout cookies. The evil assimilationist BS that is G.S. of A. is almost mitigated by Samoas. Almost. *munch*

This weekend [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I are off to Diane's for a weekend of anime (I believe the chosen features will be Escaflowne ([livejournal.com profile] sundart's never seen it) and possibly Fruits Basket, if we have the time. In the meantime, I will hopefully also have a chance to finally braid up my hair with appropriately colorful yarn, work a little on that story idea I've mentioned, and if there's time left over, work on my tattoo design. Yep, I finally am a step closer to actually getting one. What I want to do is use the japanese character for "bad/wicked/evil" surrounded by some sort of mandala like design. It's ostensibly some complicated comment on the dominant society's labels for the things I believe in, but also, as far as kanji go, aku is a pretty cool character. :) and of course, it helps that it's featured in two of my favorite cartoons. It's final destination will be my lower back. I know that's supposedly the worst place to get a tattoo pain-wise, but that's where it wants to be.

[livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess notes: (Main problem: it feels like they are tattooing up your asscrack at some points of the back, which is not a "good" feeling, if feelings have values.)

Anyway. if I'm to leave in a timely fashion, I ought to go get dressed again. I don't think it's legal to be driven to CT wearing only underwear, socks and a towel.
