I don't think I'd classify any job I've held as "the worst." They all had their annoyances, but they all had their perks too.

I guess the two minimum wage jobs I've had would qualify, though for the most part I liked working at both Cinemark and Paradise Copies. While concessions was hard on the feet and legs, not to mention numerous bad encounters with the ow ow hot elements of a popcorn maker and the wanting to stab people that drink diet soda and having to upsell shit, at the same time, I loved the people I worked with, I liked getting free movies, and there is a fair amount of silly to be had behind a concession stand so... overall that wasn't all that bad. And working the copy shop was fun for many of the same reasons - the people there at the time were all fun and interesting, I got to do big scary things like work the electric guillotine paper cutter, and take home samples of very pretty paper and clip art. So yeah... I don't know. I liked both well enough. I'd consider picking up a shift here and there at Cinemark still after I get back to the Valley if a spot opened up in box. So eh.

a) WTF, LJ seems to be having some trouble in the icon department.

b) so I'm doing some database level changes to one of the sites we manage just cause it's easier for me to do them with SQL queries than through the CMS... Each section of the web site is assigned a category, and each category has a numeric index, right?

As I was punching in queries I suddenly noticed which categories I happened to be working with this morning... 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.

And on a Wednesday, too.

Um, wow. It looks like someone dumped powdered Liquid Paper all over everything out there. I didn't even know it was supposed to snow.

I must say, kinda glad almost everything that was on the ground already melted off last week. This fresh stuff is a lot prettier for it, not to mention a bit less treacherous.

Anyway wow. Plan for the day, more packing, a couple of phone calls, work, a dr's appointment and teaching myself to sing "Коробе́йники" for the hell of it. You?
kjpepper: (LOL (eve))
seeing this just about made my morning.

For those of you that don't know, the [livejournal.com profile] murder_burger blog brings the hilarity. (Murder Burger being one of those "only in fucking New Zealand which is why I'd totally live there" restaurant chains a la Hell Pizza)

In other news, I think I'm going to be internetting it in today - the work backlog has calmed down a bit, and there is so much to do here that I'm thinking it might just be the better part of valor to stay and dig myself out from under it all.

The Rules of this Game:
1. Go to where you store your digital photos and open the 4th folder.

2. Post the 4th picture in that folder.

3. Explain the picture.

4. Tag 4 people No. If you wanna, go ahead.

That said, I'm going to flagrently break the rules. My fourth folder doesn't have a fourth picture, the fourth and fifth pictures in the next folder down are of someone who I don't think would appreciate being part of this meme, and the fourth, fifth and sixth pictures in the folder after that are NSFW pics of [livejournal.com profile] sundart. (And no, I don't care how much you beg, I still ain't posting 'em. But I'll tease you and say they're gorgeous.)

So the fourth picture in the fourth NAMED folder in my pic directory (as opposed to dated) is...

damn it, there are only 2 pics in there.

Okay, the fifth picture in the fifth NAMED folder in my picture directory is this.

Back when Bosslady was still around, we used to close the company one day in summer and one day around the holidays and go on mystery day trips of V's devising. This was in August 2004, when we ended up at the Holyoke Merry Go Round at Heritage state Park. This picture isn't actually fresh from my picture directory, it was already online for this entry about the trip.

I'd like to go back there some day.

Damn... this picture made me miss Bosslady all of a sudden.

I installed the package tracker gadget on my google desktop, lol. According to it, Sigg bottle has been delivered (and so it has! so pretty!), one of Aeris' new outfits should show up today, and the rest of the stuff is either in transit or stuck at the "we've received payment" notice, though I'm not terribly concerned about those, as I ordered a bunch of stuff from the same ebay seller and I'm pretty sure she combined the packages. so... eh, we'll see. But yeah. I'm totally a tracking number nerd watch me go.

One of my ankles looks normal this morning! Well it did when I got up, it's puffy again now. But progress is good. I've discovered that the real secret to getting the swelling in my legs down is sweating a lot, which I found out accidentally the last two nights when I fell asleep with the bed toaster on. The problem is, I'm still banned from or not up for doing things that'll make me sweat a lot, grr. Thinking of taking C's advice today and seeing if I can get in to see Holly sometime tomorrow, as the next suture down has started to pull now, and if I can, asking her about maybe starting some light regular exercise again. *snort* I find it funny that at the beginning of the year I was pretty scared of the elliptical and now I can't wait to get back on the damn thing. *chuckle*

Spent the morning retwisting my dreads. It's funny I grumble privately about how slow they're growing and then I look at pictures of myself from January and think, okay, no, they've actually grown quite a bit. Problem is I don't deal with my hair nearly as often so I've lost the muscles in my arms that are used to being held above my head for long periods of time. OW.

Gods. There is still a veritable MOUNTAIN of work to be done at work. *cries* I'm trying really hard to not to stress about it and to have faith that I'm doing the best I can with it, but GAH. It's really hard not to push myself under these circumstances, it really really is.

Speaking of stress and pushing myself, had an appointment with Chiquitita last night, and spent the session really just kinda bitching about the whole surgery experience. A couple of interesting things came out in the session... interestingly enough, after the first couple of days back, I haven't really been hyper-vigilant about my body. Gods. I remember after the PE for months I was jumping at every twinge, muscle spasm, headache and cramp. Now? Not so much. You would think this whole thing would increase the "oh god oh god I'm gonna die" response... but no. Which is probably good in the stress department, I suppose, but it's kind of interesting that this time around I seemed to bounce back mentally a lot faster than last. Hell, I've been sleeping with the lights off again lately. That's a big step.

I'm obsessed with Zydrate Anatomy. Like seriously, I know all the words now. Damn catchy number.

8:01. *sigh* Gotta go get dressed now. Drat.

Wow, I heart birthday season. I have no less than 5 packages heading straight for me in the next week or so - my sigg bottle should get here tomorrow, and the rest of the week I'll be keeping an eye out for 2 packages of doll clothes, beef iron and wine (good for us anemic types!), and the FIND A NEW GOD shirt.

Speaking of t-shirts... I need to find a new source of cute, dirt cheap fitted t-shirts, since I was annoyed to discover that the Steve and Barry's in the Hampshire Mall closed down, and a good deal of my t-shirt drawer is now borderline too big for me or too well loved to wear when I actually, you know, care about my appearance.

I am currently full of quesadilla. Anzovin Studios has a standing weekly trip to Bueno y Sano, and today I invited myself along and treated myself to a bbq chicken quesadilla. Unlike usual, I actually ate my sides, which were rice, black beans and pico de gallo, which I've decided that I don't really like the way Bueno makes it. Too much onion. But I do like black beans. Note to self. It was also fun hanging with Studio folks for lunch and listening to them discuss the upcoming election. Jesus. Two more weeks. I can't wait.

And in the last bit of news before I dive head first back into work... I am wearing slacks again. Like real, honest to goodness pants without a drawstring. Alas, I'm back in 18s, which is odd, because at last check I now weigh less than when I went into CDH. Stupid surgery and its violent rearrangement of my anatomy. It's so weird seeing myself in the mirror these days, I barely recognize anything below my neck anymore... my shape just looks wrong. Well, okay, my boobs look more or less the same or at least, you know, boob like but the rest of me... I kinda feel like someone 'shopped my head onto another body. *sigh* No wonder I've been wanting to start working out again.

ah well. It'll all even out as I heal. meanwhile back to work for me.

Back in the office. Angelgrrl cleaned my desk while I was gone, LOL. I'm not mad, it needed it desperately.

For all the AAAAGH and running around this morning, it's actually really good to be back here. Of course, now I gotta work like a fiend... and find out which process is eating my computer alive again.

Damn, it's going to be HARD to get up out of bed this winter! [livejournal.com profile] anzovin got me an electric blanket for my birthday, and even without being on it makes my bed into a cozy nest of you-don't-wanna-get-up-its-cold-out-there-sleep-moar. This could be problematic in the future, though I suspect that it's gonna save me some heat bill money.

Yesterday I lost my shit and worked on work stuff from 8:30 yesterday morning until about 11:30pm (with a few hours off here and there.) I also managed to get the dishes and my laundry done, my room more or less picked up and cleaned, and my bed/sheets stripped and washed as well. Today also looks busy as there is a bit more cleaning I would like to get done before the relatives descend tonight, and alas all the work yesterday didn't do all that much for the log jam still fouling up my inbox, but I'm not knocking any progress made. I'd like to be able to head back to the offive without having to resort to ativan. Pretty much the plan for today and the rest of the weekend is to fold in as much as I can get done around other activities, and hopefully the jam will be totally clear by next Friday. It sorta crimps up my schedule for the next little in a sucky way, but I know I will be glad to have it all done later.

As for other stuff this weekend, Amastan and Ale are coming up to visit, and I must say, they are getting the perfect fall New England weekend for it. The leaves are just a hair past peak, but still very gorgeous and the weather's gonna be apple-crisp. I'm actually looking forward to tooling around with them for a bit, and I must remember to bring the hatemonger out with me for walkies. Other than that, playing it fast and loose, continuing to heal up and resisting the temptation to not scratch the scar, lol.

Well *sigh* there's a day to get started. Off to it.

ETA: w00t! the swelling going done isn't an illusion - I'm down 14 pounds from my discharge weight, which is about five pounds more than I was when I started. I swear it's all in my feet, arg.

7:00 is getting darker and darker. If it weren't for getting up to pee every three hours these days (it really has settled into 1am, 4am and 7am intervals at night, it's a bit scary) I'd still be dead asleep.

Had a sleepy/worky afternoon after Osaka, and then [livejournal.com profile] morlock took me out to dinner @ the bluebonnet, with a stop at the comic store. Testament to my returning appetite, as being still full from Osaka I still managed to toss down an entire turkey club sandwich. Gonna have to keep an eye on things today but so far no ill effects... and again, it's not like I'm craving anything too terribly unhealthy. Except maybe coffee. I didn't have any yesterday, and I was all right... I'm trying to make that an occasional treat rather than an everyday necessity, and actually having the vanilla soy milk around does help with that, as I crave heavy creamy and sweet in the morning. Apparently the coffee is optional there.

The evening was wrapped up with a book in [livejournal.com profile] morlock's armchair watching McCain flail during the debate. Who the hell is Joe the plumber? I'd be creeped out enough by McCain's direct addresses to him to move to Canada this morning. Actually it was funny, I wasn't paying attention so much to the debated questions as both candidates demeanors... I felt that Obama stayed relaxed and confident in his positions enough to make McCain nervous on a few occasions. McCain... just seemed squirrelly and stiff for most of it, blinked a lot, and I felt he resorted to taking potshots at Obama too much. And that he always had to one-up Obama at the end of every point, like he needed the last word. And at several points I was reminded of those annoying alltell wireless commercials, cause I felt that McCain wanted to end most of the talking points with "Oh yeah, well Senator Obama, you're still a ding-dong! Do you want a ding-dong for president??" To which point I would be all like "yeah about that, have you looked at your running mate lately?"

Today's plan/goals: Worky worky, and a lot of it. *sigh* Just need to gird the loins and push through it today, otherwise it's just not going to get done at all ever. blarg. Also want to tidy up a bit in my room, clean the downstairs bathroom, and tackle a few grody areas of the kitchen, as Amastan and Ale are definitely showing up this weekend. We'll see what time and energy allow for today, but I feel confident that I can manage all that and an episode of Murder She Wrote with C.

So off to it. Can't do a thing w/o breakfast after all...
kjpepper: (Tenna (anxious))
Good: INR = 2.8.

Bad: Middle finger bruised. Right on the pad too. Typing is going to be SO much fun today.

Good: Managed to get past this morning's headnoise and get to CDH and work on time. Yes, there was a moment where that almost didn't happen. Really done with the mental illness thing, kthx.

Bad: OMG so much work today. And no breakfast.

Ugly: my work computer (SexyBeast) is making alarming my-CPU-is-going-to-explode noises. So a good chunk of my morning is going to be process hunting and killing. And did I mention no breakfast?

Good: Looking forward to AGT and other stuff tonight. Actually starting to get back into Chaotic again and actually enjoy it.

Bad: I feel like complete and utter shit both physically and mentally. Plus I'm probably going to be at work late not only tonight but quite possibly every night for the next two weeks including weekends. However...

Good: Overtime for the win. Goodness knows I need the $$$

Bad: I'm never going to sleep again.

Of course all of the above means I'll either go into radio silence (so don't be surprised if my various IM statuses read DND for the next two weeks) or I'm going to be posting every hour on the hour as a sanity saving measure. We'll see. *lines up windmill in her sights and prepares to charge*
kjpepper: (nyeh! demongo)

Diner and Beetlejuice to follow. Looking forward to it.
kjpepper: (Default)
Good news: I ain'ten deaf. Apparently the bounced hearing test during my physical was a fluke, cause after putting me in a claustrophobic little soundproof booth and shooting all manner of bleeps, bloops and static at me, my hearing was declared perfect. So the problem I've been having processing input is a software issue, not a hardware one. *sigh* grand. Cause I need more things wrong with me brainmeat.

Bad news: Today isn't over yet, work is still steadily devouring me, I'm still broke as hell (thus no tasty tasty barbecue for me today *sob*), and now we can add tired and overheated to the mix as due to PVTA's wonky scheduling around lunchtime there wasn't a bus running back downtown from Florence, so I walked the two miles back to the office. It's kinda interesting how two miles is like nothing in New York, and yet is interminable around here. Oh well. At least I got a fun picture of that sign on the way back. And passed lots of yards with overabundances of ripening tomatoes. Yay home grown produce.

Good news: Beetlejuice at the Friday Night Rewind tonight! And diner beforehand.

Bad news: Did I mention the day still isn't over? *sigh* Miles to go until I sleep. Or go home. Or something. Graagh.

Deja vu

Yeah, just go back and read this entry.

Welcome to my week. And this time, alas, no cookies. Only screaming.

In other news, what are people's thoughts on Google Chrome? I haven't had a chance to play with it enough to form a concrete opinion, but I'll have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat that the fact that it migrates all page histories and passwords from firefox is pretty schway.
