A long overdue dear john letter

Back when I first found you, I thought you were the greatest thing since sliced bread. When I needed a way to keep track of everyone on every single form of IM possible, way back in the wilds of I don't even remember when, you were there. You stepped in, swept me off my feet, and said "There there, Andee. Now you need never violate the pristine virginity of you computer with such vile things as the actual AIM and YIM clients. You have me. I will never show you ads, or tickers showing you stocks and news you simply do not care about. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." And I gratefully threw my panties at you and it was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
But time went on. You started to show your age. You wanted me to pay you for Jabber support, so I had to run google talk seperately. Pretty soon it got so that I talked to people with google talk more and thus simply forgot to turn you on. We grew apart. We began to quarrel. You turned the friends I used to talk to through you against me as I no longer "saw" them as much. And the few times I have had you running you began engaging in suspect behavior. I don't have hard evidence that this is your fault, but I can no longer ignore the fact that whenever you are running, EPEEN will inexplicably bluescreen-of-death twenty minutes after opening World of Warcraft. But I had resolved to put up with your nonsense, simply because I loved you and didn't really know any better.
This morning, however, I met Pidgin. He's sweet. He's purple. He's open source. He fulfills all my chatting needs. He lets me run multiple instances of everything, including Jabber. For the first time, all of my buddy lists, including the work network, battle together as one. Needless to say, he now owns my panties.
It's been a long time in coming, but I think this is finally the end. No hard feelings. In the end, it's not you... it's me.
