Today's picspam

So the top picture is the bottom floor of my old dollhouse. Really, it was my Mom's dollhouse, as she built it for me and then ended up playing with it almost exclusively herself. Seriously, I remember getting up at three in the morning to go get a glass of water and there she'd be sitting, all the lights on inside, rearranging rooms, or decorating it for christmas. At some point before she got really too sick to move around, she took out all of the furniture hoping to dust out the insides and shake out the rugs and then replace all the furniture... needless to say, it's been empty ever since, going on four years now. I keep meaning to do something with it when I come home because I know where the furniture all is (I think) but I never get around to it.

Today I was sort of looking at it and thinking it was starting to take on the same level of weird, spooky interest that abandoned buildings have when they're neglected and falling apart. (Not to mention the dust.) So I quickly took a few shots. The one of the downstairs came out the best.

In other news, wow, do I need a tripod...

I knew it - I looked at it and said "dollhouse"
very cool picture.
I also thought abandoned building, like an abandoned dollhouse. Which I guess it is.

My life story anecdotes, let me tell you them!

I had a dollhouse as a kid that my Dad helped me build, but I lost interest and my sister took it over. Being semi-goth at the time, she decorated it with the skulls she'd pulled out of owl pellets we found in the front yard. My Mom was scandalized. The skulls didn't match the lacey flower decor we had there previously, not at all. ^-^;;
