7 post day
Nov. 15th, 2003 11:02 pmWow, haven't had one of those since june...
I was passing the iron horse last week on my way back from running errands downtown and happened to notice that Solas was playing today. So I thought "ooh!" and ran home, told sundart we were going "out" on the following Saturday. I then called up
gossamer_gull and
inle_rah, and and was like "hey! g.g.'s got a birthday coming up! We're going out!" They were like "...'kay!" and so here we were.
Good things about the evening:
The Somewhat Wanky:
Still, even the reasonably wanky stuff didn't bother me too much, except on g.g.'s behalf, and once we had food stuffed into our faces, we had a fabulous time.

Good things about the evening:
- Solas kicks ass in concert. All five of them are such talented musicians, and this will make band number 2 with seriously cute chick whaling the hell out of a violin. I did periodically feel sorry for their lead vocalist, Dierdre, as during their instrumental pieces (of whick there were a lot) she got to sit on a stool and watch. As g.g. pointed out, "They didn't even give her a tamborine!" The energy in the hall was cool, and much clapping along with the reels.
- Got to meet inle's boy. He's a sweetie.
- Got to do silly things adults aren't supposed to do. Like watch g.g. float the small rubber duckie sundart has been carrying around since birkwelch sent it to her last month. Play rummy with a very small deck of cards. Watch g.g. stuff multiple french fries into inle's and boy's mouths. And drink a black-n-tan with a straw, then subsequently blow bubbles in the last third or so I didn't feel like drinking. inle's boy was horrified at the defilement of the beer; I now have a reason to carry around a silly straw. So wrong. So me. *hic* ;D
- Got Solas' new CD upon departure.
The Somewhat Wanky:
- Either the Iron Horse was short staffed tonight, or our waiter was a total wank, cause it took him at least an hour to get around to taking our orders. Which wouldn't have been so bad if g.g. hadn't been ready to gnaw into a box of starving crazed weasels after having a single powerbar all day. And then he managed to forget my black-n-tan for like half an hour.
- Though our seats up in the balcony had a perfect view of the stage and the soundboard, they were on these low narrow benches draped with not very cushy futons, and a table which, while not small, eliminated any semblance of leg room whatsoever, so I spent the concert reasonably cramped. Kind of a pity really - those seats looked like such a good idea for a hot second.
Still, even the reasonably wanky stuff didn't bother me too much, except on g.g.'s behalf, and once we had food stuffed into our faces, we had a fabulous time.

Date: 2003-11-15 09:30 pm (UTC)I'm sorry I was kind of "out of it" at first. Mostly the hunger. I actually ate the Power Bar on the way to la casita, and don't think I'd have been as hungry as I was if the whole place hadn't smelled of food. Stupid waiter.
If you guys still have the straw I used as the Pirate Ship Homie mast, you could use that to sip your beer (tee hee hee).
stupid waiter, bash him good
