Quick way to depress yourself thoroughly - tally up all your bank balances and debts, dump them all into Quicken, and read all the little reports it generates on where exactly your money had evaporated to in the past three months. All I can say is I'm kinda glad I'm taking this shit in hand right now because I spend WAY too much money on overdraft fees.

All things considered, I'm not in that bad of financial shape... I still have a student loan, have under 1K of CC debt, and owe about 3K to C&R for various loans over the past couple years. Still... it's a collective total of about 15K, and I'm sick of having it all hover over my head. I think one of my goals for next year is to have a good chunk of it paid down - hike the student load rate up by a bit, and zero out my balances to C&R and the CC. I think that's reasonable. Course, with a move happening, it'll also be a challenge.

In other news, cranky and evil tonight, and tomorrow, despite it being Halloween and ostensibly my favorite day of the year, doesn't look much better. I think I blew my Halloween wad at Haven, alas. *sigh* between surgery and work, I kinda feel like my October was quite thoroughly hijacked and I didn't have the energy to really do October stuff. I wasn't feeling it. Bleh. I'll have to make up for it over Giftmas/New Years, I think...

In other news, wtf. I think EPeen picked up a virus. At any rate, something utterly weird is going on - about once every half an hour all my windows go inactive, and I hear a weird double click-like noise from the speakers, and once I got audio like one of those horrible speaking Flash ads was coming through. No idea what's causing it and I've run every virus/malware/whathaveyou software I've got. Nada. About to go run system restore. *sigh* lovely.

I know that some banks offer overdraft protection either through savings accounts or bank-branded credit cards. You should check with the guys at your local branch. If they don't offer it, find out if any other banks in the area do. The idea is that if you accidentally overdraft, it will automatically draw the money from your savings or your card, thus saving you the fee.

I'm pretty sure I already have that. Problem is, by the time I end up ODing I've killed my savings as well, and I really really don't want to put anything else on my CC.
