Nov. 25th, 2008 09:46 pmlong train trip is looooong.
I am in Buffalo, safe and sound. It's not particularly cold here, nor is there twelve feet of snow on the ground either. I'm a wee bit disappointed, lol.
The train ride up was fairly uneventful. I met a very friendly and chatty conductor named Jay who kept me quite entertained on the way up, and it turns out we both have unholy addictions to Modern Marvels. Mad props to him for helping pass the time, and also have to say the other guy working the cafe car gets a yay for giving me the free coffee for keeping his trainee out of his hair, lol.
Other than talking to Jay and goggling at the Hudson River (which was oddly beautiful in all the gray fog this morning) I can't say too much about the trip. I got a bit of writing done, both story-wise and in my journal, and as requested, got lots of text messages. Did a bit of thinking too... sometimes when you're on the road, or in this case the rails, there really isn't anything else to do but think... Did it lead me to any productive conclusions? I don't know. Not really done yet, lol.
Arrived at Nukes house after waiting for my nephew to come pick me up at the station for about 45 min (he got lost, lol.) Ruthy Vicki and Dad are here, and Vicki's son is having a blast visiting his cousins. There was about an hour or so of Dad blaring MSNBC and everyone being loud and zooey and carrying on, then Nuke took all the kids to a ball game over at the university, and me and Ruthy and Vicki sat around and went through Ruthy's closet leftovers that she has now shrunk out of. And now, weirdly enough, I'm in Nukes house by myself, as the ball game is still going and Dad and all of them went off in search of eats and hotel. Probably my last moment of silence for a while... I'd best enjoy.
