sleepy . . . so sleepy, and yet, can't sleep.

I'm going to the eye doctor at some ass early hour tomorrow. Full exam, including pupil dilation, will follow, most likely. Then maybe a couple of hours of not being able to see, followed by a late day at work. Yep that's the lineup for the morrow.

Our taller-than-I-remember houseguest arrived late tonight as scheduled, despite a fiasco involving messages that ultimately weren't gotten. The experience has taught me that though I can still hate cell phones with every fiber of my being, I can now see why people have them. ah well! I was quite glad to see him . . . although hey, I still didn't get my hello hug! meh, everyone else got one . . . *pout!* We watched Monty Python until very late, had an amusing conversation about the Weather channel (yes, I find it fascinating. Shoot me.), and about the fact that nearly every time he comes to visit I spend the first evening or so little-sistering him to death. I sort of explained that the phenomenon was not unlike having a new toy in the house - you kind of want to play with it until the novelty wears off some, and then everythings fine. :) Considering its been a little over two years since his last visit out here I'm not surprised. Which means I'm probably going to be a complete freak when I run off to visit harinezumi at the bottom of the month. Take this as advanced warning, kitten, and shine up the elbows - you may need them!

I need to stop fucking around and get to sleep though. Like now. Oh and yep, what did I tell ya? bleeding like a stuck pig . . .

Got up at what felt like the asscrack. Actually, considering sundart didn't sleep and came in to wake me at about 6:30 is, it was the asscrack. :)

Made my eye appointment and went through the whole opthalmological cha cha - about an hour of bright lights being flashed, shown, and waved around in front of me, icky colored eyedrops, having my corneas poked, and making chatty conversation about various eyeball problems in my family with the doctor, I was released into a world of unusually and unforgivingly bright light. Damn pupil dilation. Even with the stuff dropped in that is supposedly to help reverse its effects faster it still sort of hurts to look out of a window, though it is much better. I expect I should stop being able to see the refresh rate of [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess's monitor by dinnertime. In the meantime, looking at myself and my dilated pupils in the mirror is sort of frightening, as I look like they transplanted a pair of teddy bear eyeballs into my head.

Between not being able to focus/see anything bright, having a bad couple of nights sleep, cramps, a bitching headache, and a random nausea that came out of nowhere this morning, I called in to work today. I'm glad I did - staring at a screen all day would not have been at all comfy. It's just me and [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess home right now, with the impending arrival of our wayward electrician. (who is late again) I will have to talk to him when he comes in about how he's badly disrupting beatgrrl's sleeping schedule. [livejournal.com profile] sundart is working and the shanti has wandered off in her general direction, probably to play video games and see movies. Meanwhile my body has erupted into no less than seventeen yucky itchy bumps. Man I hate summer bugs. I've been scratching at them for two days now.

I think its time to eat something, close all of the curtains, and nap for a bit, as much as I can nap with electrician pottering around...
