kjpepper: (nyeh! demongo)
Yesterday and the night before, running on pepsi, gatorade, red potato pizza, italian food, o'soy, several prayers and several heartfelt curses, I helped [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams herd her stuff into boxes and bags, herd the boxes and the furniture out of her basement level apartment into her U-haul, and cart the shite up to her third floor walkup in MA, with the assistance of [livejournal.com profile] jaicat and [livejournal.com profile] sundart and d.d.'s friend Chingching, (is that how you spell it?), a really nice guy who's her new downstairs neighbor and the backup reserves of [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess and [livejournal.com profile] primitive_boy.

Hey, I didn't know you could get sore there. Or there. Or *stretch* OW! there. :)

Very proud of myself. One of the hazards of living in a damp basement is that mold takes up residence in the most unexpected places. Go me for not running away screaming. Okay, I did scream several times. But I didn't run away.

Wow, I'm amazed at the shitload of crap we got done yesterday. We're goooooooooooooood.

Moving blows, but it blows less when you've got people helping.

Ooog. so very very tired . . . .
kjpepper: (sleepy me (zzzz))
Some quotes from the weekend:

[In reference to the problem of hoisting a large, heavy and unweildy comic book box from floor to shoulder]
Me: Kitty, I might need your help getting this last box up.
[livejournal.com profile] jaicat: Okay, I'll help you get it up.
Me: Hee hee. I'm sure nobody has any trouble getting it up if you're around.
[livejournal.com profile] jaicat: Yep, come to me if you need help getting it up!

[On [livejournal.com profile] sundart wasting away to nothing due to mysterious Wasting Butt Disease]:
[livejournal.com profile] jaicat: Yeah, you'd better stop that, otherwise [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch and [livejournal.com profile] kjpepper will be fighting over scraps of clothing...

[while listening to Tango de Roxanne (moulin rouge!) in the car, I made some reference to the Narcoleptic Argentinean sounding exactly like Cookie Monster]
Me [singing along]: Roooooxanne, you don't have to sell your cookies to the night...
[Later in the song]
Me: You're free to feed me, but just don't deceive me and please believe me when I say I'm hungry...

Amazing what sleep deprivation and overtaxation of muscles does to the brain. :)

Today, after yummy lunch at Kathy John's (mmmm, dineresque food and gift shop consisting of barely anything other than MORE RUBBER STAMPS THAN GOD EVER INTENDED!) was the post move finishing of dusting and cleaning at old place, and the tossing (or in this case, the giving to next door neighbor) of the remaining bits of furniture. We also had to repair a light fixture we had literally torn out of the ceiling with the box spring yesterday. Then we dropped [livejournal.com profile] jaicat off at the bus station and then went to Target for huge heavy pressed wood furniture type items and some supplies. I had a minor fit in the store due to low blood sugar - if I'm imbalanced in any way in big box stores the florescent lighting makes me kind of crazy, but then [livejournal.com profile] sundart got me a frappacino and some nasty pseudogranola bars, and then I was okay. I was especially okay afterwards becuase [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams stopped at Petco for snake supplies, and I of course went to hang out in the reptile aisle just as a couple were buying a baby corn snake, so I got to play with this itsy bitsy albino corn snake which was sooooooooooo cute! It was so tiny and reminded me of an animated shoelace... must have a snake someday. But maybe I'll start first with some lizards. Lizards are easy. I've always wanted to build a lizard terrarium with built-in webcams. Hey, we've got broadband now... :) Also in the car we got to listen to d.d.'s favorite New Order tape and explain the basics of harmonizing to her... I know waaaay too much music theory sometimes. :)

Off to d.d.'s new apartment again to haul heavy crap up the stairs (with the kind pitching in of yet another new downstairs neighbor) again then off to our last meal out in a whirlwind weekend of nothing but restaurants. I'd fogotten just how yummy Chili's food actually is. :) Then back to the new place to play "where's [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams' deodorant?" and to put together one of the items of furniture (and play a little bit with d.d.'s free weights, much to the shock of [livejournal.com profile] sundart, who marveled that I still had the desire and the ability to pick up anything heavy... hmm, I must get me some of those), then back home.

Overall a productive weekend, but boy am I tired and not inclined to go to work tomorrow, as I've had no downtime all weekend and less sleep than usual. Ah well, such is life. :) here's to [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams' new job and new place!

Question for the masses: Neil Gaiman. Pronounced with a long I sound or a long A sound? i.e. Gay-man or Guy-man? Answer with backup evidence if possible, this question came up several times today. The debate rages on...
