Life still spiraling into chaos. No big surprise there. I'm getting a little concerned because I'm kind of beyond panic suddenly. Unfortunately I seem to be heading toward apathy, which is bad because that usually means shit's going to continue to spiral until I can build up a nice panic again.

Trying to break out of the cycle, but it's tougher than it looks. The way I see it, there are two minor things and two major things I'm stressing over - I'm going to see if I can get at least the two minor things on the road to resolution if not completely fixed today. The rest... we'll see.

Need some help with a WinME problem on beatgoddess' Dell.

yes I know I know, win ME, ick. Beside the point. Shut up and help me.

ran windows update today, apparently the system is balking on updating the config files so that what happens on startup is this:

Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2

Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2

Windows could not upgrade the file %1 from %2

ad infinitum until I control alt delete. This happens whether I try starting in safe mode or using the step by step confirmation.

Have boot disk, followed directions up until scandisk. Kind of at a loss as to step 2.

HELP!

Update: Never mind. Problem more or less solved. All hail Google and piss on Windows update. Now if one of you geeks can toss me a viable winME wininit.exe file, kisses, firstborn children, undying gratitude and sexual favors of choice are yours for the asking.
