musings...

Yaoi mini marathon went good, though jeez, Taipei and Chocobo's delivery has gotten really slow these days, I swear it took like an hour and a half for us to get food. One more DVD to go before we finish out season 1, and then there will be 2 and 3 to work through. I am amused by [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams' habit of yelling at the characters. I'm also kind of amused by the fact that we haven't really picked favorites, everyone seems to like the guys fairly equally (though I do have a major hard on for Brian), and all of us want Debbie for a mom. Mmmm, malchik-gei...

Went to bed fairly early (like midnight) after experimenting with Sally Hanson Masochism-in-a-Bottle... er, wax, after a conversation about it a couple of days ago with [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess and [livejournal.com profile] sundart. Turns out I was squawking about it for little reason. Yah it stings a bit, but considering I get a peculiar little thrill from ripping off band-aids, this was fine. Unfortunately it's tedious as hell, so I think this will be an ongoing project. Ye gods, what we will do for cheap thrills. At least this won't leave me feeling like a cactus in a couple of days. Hopefully. It's sort of amusing looking at my legs right now, considering two thirds of one leg is hairless, and the rest... not that my leg hair shows all that much to begin with, but there is a fairly obvious line, and a few random clumps I missed here and there. And to think, there are people that do this sort of stuff every goddamn day... *boggle* I think next time, though I'll save myself six bucks and just invest in a roll of duct tape.

Woke up feeling rather weird and sad, and thus it took me forever to drag my carcass out of bed. Luckily, I don't have to be in class until 10:30, so that's generally all right. Today looks busy. After class I'll probably trek downtown to the bike shop so they can fix my grip shift, if I can't get it working with a quick tinker this morning. Then maybe I'll go for a nice long ride - wonder if the Norwottock trail is clear? Or if I don't feel up to that I'll just make a circuit of the Northampton trail and circle 'round Look Park a couple of times... It's been so long and Bellenoire is running so damn smooth that even really steep hills are so not intimidating. (gotta love new ball bearings.) At some point this evening I have to watch Solaris, either by renting the thing tonight during the grocery run or by going to the screening at 7. Also should find a spare couple of hours and watch the Cowboy Bebop movie I rented with the gay boys last night. I love two for one night at Pleasant Street Video.

Still kinda meh though. I've got a ton of work to be doing in this upcoming week that I'm stressing over some, but hopefully I will end Spring break with being caught up and more or less ready to give this doing well in school thing another shot.

I think one of the things on my agenda this week is going to be some spring cleaning. There are so many things just cluttering up my life that I don't use, am never going to use, or have ceased to benefit me. I'm not just talking about the stuff, the books, the clothing and crap, I'm talking life-wise as well. I'm going to see if I can empty a little head space clutter as well, deal with some shit, and put some crap right that I've been neglecting since late January.

An unusual thing to ask of the Pioneer Valley crowd - anyone out there have a fairly sizable bathtub? something where a tallish big girl can sprawl in and a) not have to bend her knees and b) not get her ample ass wedged crosswise? c) can actually fill the tub with a fairly deep enough amount of water without overflowing the tub? I'm kinda hurting for a real bath, one in which I can fill the tub with scalding hot water, plop myself down, and do fantastically girly things like read, play with bubbles, exfoliate, explore the wide world of bath gels, that sort of thing for a couple of hours? I don't mind showers, but every so often I need the call of hot water, and while I've got a chunk of money coming in at the end of the month, I'm not blowing the money to trek over to east heaven unless I've got company, and besides, they don't let you use bubble bath. ;)

Wouldn't you know it, CS was canceled this morning. I guess it is possible for everyone in the class to get sick or be absent for spring break at the same time. (well there are only like eight people in the class anyway.) And here I was making the effort to show up on time for once. :)

No matter. I instead took off for downtown and the bike shop, there to very sweetly harangue the monkey-wrenchers there about the fact that Bellenoire's grip shift now doesn't stay in place but instead snaps back to 1, which is kinda scary when you're trying to do anything remotely like pedaling whilst going downhill (I had to literally hold it on 3), not to mention that the problem I initially brought her in for (pedals going kaCHUNK whilst accelerating or going uphill) is still happening. They all got the tweaky "oh shit, we fucked up" looks on their faces and told me to come back for her this afternoon. Hmm. depending on what the problem is, I might still have time for a ride later. We'll see.

Made my way slowly back, taking the opportunity to window shop a little, as it had been a while since I'd spent any time downtown Forgot to mention there's a new place in Thornes that rents anime, hope they find some slightly bigger space to work out of, but for now they're cool. :) Saw a top in the Mercantile and decided to give the cashier a hard time about it - I know it's made in bigger sizes than M. I saw it in an xxl there a couple of years ago and didn't buy it then cause it was the wrong color, but I haven seen it even in an xl since then. Stupid goth/medieval clothing people... *grumble* anyway, got the label and the product number for the top, going to see if I can find it on ebay or around the net someplace. Still on my way home, actually, as I'm in the IKEA outlet cum student center currently.

And onward to the rest of my day.

I just found out that one of the most colorful people I've had the priviledge to know at Smith passed away over Christmas.

Her name was Mary Elizabeth Robinson, I called her Mary E. She was a fellow Lamonster, an avid MSFCer (she was Kiraluna), and out of everyone I've ever known, she was the person most comfortable with her sexuality and (outwardly, anyway) her size. She was the person who introduced [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I to the wonders of Good Vibrations (and would show off her purchases to all of us with great glee), had different names and personalities assigned to each of her breasts, and organized the midnight pornography parties in Lamont living room that were invitation only but people always crashed them. She also, for all I know, still holds the Residence and Dining Services record for messiest room on campus.

She and I would have long chats in the dining room after midnight (cause we both kept extremely late hours) about the trials and tribulations of dealing with black middle-class parents and their black middle-class aspirations for their decidedly, er, countercultural kids. She was also probably the other black girl on campus who didn't give a fuck about what her hair looked like, and so we bonded over that. :) She was funny, brash, and had the sweetest smile this side of civilization. Not to mention gave good hugs.

We'll miss you Mary E. Thanks for joining us - we enjoyed you while you were here.

merry ye meet, merry ye part, merry ye meet again.

Bike shop called. One replaced grip shift. No charge for the labor, but $12 for the part. You'd THINK they'd have spotted that the first time. Ah well. Going downtown again to pick up some small items and Bellenoire, after that... I may go a-riding. Not sure just where or for how long yet, but if I'm hitting the trails I think I may need to check and see if my nomad batteries are charged up yet.

*sigh* Time to work on my meta tags, I think. I had to go seven pages in to find a pic remotely associated with me. meh. *webgeek grumble*

Anyway, I picked four out that amused me:

http://chiron.valdosta.edu/djudd/panda1.jpg - A lone panda surveys its territory.

http://showboxers.com/breeders/breho/images/Andee96126CJ.jpg - Ladies and Gentlemen, I, Andee the American Boxer, would just like to say a few words about NUDITY in the world today...

http://pics.faws.org/pics/wuarchive.wustl.edu/multimedia/images/jpeg/a/andee.jpg - um... no comment.

http://www.stagecoachers.com/Photos/2001_C_pixs/roberta,andee,dorothy.JPG - this would only be funnier if those were guys in drag. No wait, are those guys in drag?

Just for S&Gs, I also tried my screen name, but no dice. ah well.
