kjpepper: (looking down)
Welcome to another groggy morning. (less than enthusiastic "yay.")

*sigh* I don't know. I feel like I've slipped back into autopilot, that I'm not really getting anything useful or meaningful done, just going to work, coming home and escaping, lately via fiction. What happened to all the fiery inspiration of sixteenish days ago, when suddenly I knew exactly what I wanted?

Bah. *sigh* At least I've now finished, sniffled over, laughed my ass off at, and deeply pondered the Black Jewels trilogy to a degree sufficient enough to allow me to put them away for a while. May go on to the next Anne Bishop trilogy especially since I own but never got around to reading the third book, but haven't really decided. And I still have to sit m'self down and have a little quality time with Mr. Thomas Covenant, the irascible, whiny, stubborn bitch of an otherwise pretty fabulous book. :)

Tomorrow is the new moon, a time of banishing unhelpful influences or forces, and also new beginnings. I know at least one person reading this that's hoping to begin something not exactly new, but still rather terrifying tomorrow, so I will keep my fingers crossed for said person. As for me... I don't know. With school well and truly postponed until the fall I need to find meself a summer project. Besides practicing the operation of class D motor vehicles, which I'm getting much less panicky and more impatient about. (hey [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull! We should plan to enter Marion at some point, maybe next month?)

Well, I'll figure out something I guess.

I just saw one of our cats careen through the hall and completely fail to brake sufficiently on the slippery wood floor to keep from plunging headlong down the stairs. She's fine, but she's now stalking about the house in a completely pissed off way, as if it were the stairs' fault she now has an injured dignity. These little animals are so batshit sometimes.

I must away and have breakfast. In the meantime, here's that "who's commenting in your LJ" thing that's going around.

Read more... or don't. )

As I was eating breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] sundart, I happened to notice the following public service announcement written across the back of the Domino's brown sugar box:
Sugar is a 100% natural simple carbohydrate.
Carbohydrates are an important part of any balanced diet.
Sugar contains no fat or cholesterol, and has 15 calories per teaspoon.
Oh boy, I'm laughing my ass off with this one. a) Atkins seems to have the sugar industry running scared. b) I guess you can sell anything as "part of a balanced diet" with the right marketing. Cyanide, for example. "Essential for the prevention of excess tension in muscles. May cause death if used correctly."

You know it's time to cut your nails when you accidentally gouge a bit of your own flesh out with them. Or come dam near close. Ouch. *inspects fingers, bitterly* Well, I need to do something with them. If I actually paint the damn things, I'll be less inclined to chew my cuticles anyway. Just a coat of clear will do it.

I've got other things to do tonight as well. Including read.

Huh. [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess is listening to that "Intellectualize My Blackness" song I've been hearing her sing for as long as I've known her. I think this is probably the first time I've actually heard it. Of course, the image of [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess in her kitchen at South Street, singing into a kitchen implement, naked, with orange hair flying everywhere is pretty well stamped into my head. :)

bah. ok. I've got nothing real to say. Stopping now.

Tickled.

So today I hear through the grapevine that someone I don't know (but who is sort of a friend of a friend) wants me to take pictures of them, a la the spread I did of [livejournal.com profile] sundart once upon a time as a (late) birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch.

I'm vastly amused and intrigued by this proposition. Intrigued mostly. I could use the experience photographing males. Hell, I could use the experience photographing anyone other than [livejournal.com profile] sundart, who, lets face it, is probably the easiest person to take pictures of, owing to the fact that she could paint her face chartreuse, tie herself into a pretzel, cross her eyes, stick out her tongue and the picture would still come out the cutest thing evar. On second thought I have managed to wrest some very cute pictures of [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch out of his visit, so maybe I do myself too little credit.

Who knows. Anyway, the proposition did make me smile, though lately I've had the grumpy notion that there are those of us out there that are beautiful and everyone else is only doomed to see and appreciate this fact. And photograph it. *rueful grin* Yes, I know, it's quite a silly thought, but it has danced through my head like a satanic sugar plum every so often.

Ice cream truck outside. It must go SMASH now. 'scuse me.
kjpepper: (yarr!!)
So [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch has apparently been playing a LOT of puzzle pirates lately... and he now has a ship. Which we're crewing on. go us.

Anyway, don't ask us how this happened but we're standing around on deck and  the conversation turns to the styling rags [livejournal.com profile] sundart is wearing. After much discussion and a discovery that cross dressing is sadly not allowed in puzzle piratesverse, the three of us decided to go shopping.

We wound up in the "Bandana Republic." This game has more bad puns than [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull and [livejournal.com profile] mythmaster on a good day. *facepalm*
