oy. What a day. Got to work at nine, bang on the dot, as requested, stayed until 6. Owch. I have a shitload of work on my plate, but that's ok, I'm not stuck or anything, it's just slow coming. Blah.

On an up note, it has recently come to my attention that i have the day off tomorrow from both class AND from work. Somehow I missed the memo until yesterday that I get it off for work too. You Massachusetts people are so strange, with your odd day off on Veterans day. But hey, I'm not complainin' that loudly. I'm still trying to figure out how to dispose of the day other than working on [livejournal.com profile] sundart's new web site and finishing up [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull's birthday tape. I'm thinking the time has come to spend some quality time with the fro and a ball of yarn. One distinct advantage to having 2/3rds more yarn on your head than hair is the automatic winter cap effect. :D

Hopefully theres greasyfood (aka Denny's) in my near future - there is talk of kidnapping the birthday girl for foodlike substances. Joy!

OMG. classic cartoon characters should NOT I repeat should NOT make the leap to computer generated animation. Ugh.

Anyone else see the preview of that Mickey's Christmas DVD and know of the travesty of which I speak?

And then there is this...

Can I have this poster? or at least the coat? *paw* )

I'm really curious as to what exactly Tim Burton is DOING with this movie. I'm willing to bet the end result is going to at least be equally if not more fucked up than the gene wilder version.

How is it that I forget sometimes how much fun it is to go out and just have a good time with good friends, gabbing and being silly over cups of cocoa and plates of food that really isn't good for anyone by any stretch of the imagination?

of course, any occasion where I get to go out with [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull and [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah is a good one, especially if there's restaurant involved. We all wound up meeting g.g. at the Rt. 9 Diner, where much wisecracking about touching the cookies ensued. Sadly, no [livejournal.com profile] lysscat to be found there, so we couldn't harass her about touching her cookies. So we spent some quality time touching the jukebox at our table instead, settling with some nice selections of Sinatra, Steppenwolf, Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, the chick that sings "These Boots were Made for walking"... and what was the sixth one we picked? ah well. Funny thing: CD 49 in the jukebox contains country hits of 2004. Bad country hits of 2004. (yes, I know, most of you out there automatically think there's a redundancy present in "bad country music." Hear me out on this one.) The track names for this album are hilarious - I was rather charmed by "I Love NASCAR."

The time was good - all of us seemed to be rather in rare form tonight. Especially ms. birthday girl, who had apparently spent her day consuming copious amounts of caffiene, and loved it when the waitress erred nine years on the young side of her actual age when asked to guess. And a special treat came in the form of [livejournal.com profile] myburningviolin with her retinue; she stayed by our table to chitchat with us for a bit and once she sat down with her boys, much cross-diner silliness abounded. (Apparently 32 is "too old" to play with your food - I'm going to make the most of the next six years I think.) Luckily it seemed to be a fairly slow night so we avoided getting kicked out. Even if g.g. did yank up [livejournal.com profile] sundart's shirt to flashing level in an attempt to execute a zerbert with an ice cube in her mouth.

So... a good time was had by all, my tummy is full of breakfast and piepiepiepiepie...PIE, and I am quite happy and resolved to go out and shoot the shit with more friend type people over food.
