kjpepper: (we're just kids (morlock))
Well. That had to be one of the most... interesting... Christmases I've ever had. Certainly one of the most well travelled ones ever.

So. sunny and I wake up in some strange girl's bed (cause [livejournal.com profile] jaicat is quite strange - BTW, thank you thank you thank you for saving our asses and lending us crash space, lovey. Your presents are in your room. Somewhere. ;) ) at about 8:30. And from there pretty much hit the ground running - after succesfully making it to the bathroom without a) falling out of [livejournal.com profile] jaicat's loft bed and b) stepping on [livejournal.com profile] draxinosum's head, I got dressed and spent the morning frantically wrapping stuff, all except for the big floppy lion I got for the baby. I figured we'd pick up a gift bag for him somewhere on the way to New Jersey, so we don't worry about it, pack up the presents in our suitcases, bid [livejournal.com profile] draxinosum adieu, and head out to Penn Station. Which was a bit of a pain to do on the subway from kitty's house, but it turned out to be fun cause here we were with these suitcases and alternately either sundart or I would have this huge floppy lion wedged under an arm. It's a really cute lion too - has this inquisitive expression that kinda appealed to everyone who paused to stare. We got a few smiles on the way, discovered it looked good in sunny's hat, and probably the best moment was running into a tiny little girl out with her father clutching a big stuffed Simba doll. Proof that no matter what you do in NY there's at least one other freak doing the same thing.

Sunny and I made it to NJ without incident, beat the rest of the clan there (cause CPT applies in triplicate in my family *rollseyes* We'll be there at 1, my ass), and once we get the presents assembled and the forty million loaves of sunny's bread organized, and the kids said hello to (including a pretty sick S - stomach flu on Christmas is not fair when you're under 18) we help around the kitchen chopping stuff up until people got there. Had a Christmas dinner that couldn't be beat, got glomphed and piled on by the kids, and generally had quite a good time this afternoon. Sunny was having fun, everyone was pretty much staying out of my hair, and it was a good time. Really.

So the loot. Between sunny and I, we are taking home 2 santa hats, 1 george foreman grill (??!!), 1 journal, 1 coffee maker, a few odds and ends (those were sunny's presents) 1 oil lamp candlabra, 1 ethiopian coptic cross (that would be inexplicable Dad gift #1... but hey, everyone else in my family has one so it's perhaps not that inexplicable), 1 juice extractor (!!!!!!!), 1 Tiffany heart necklace that Dad had made for all of us girls in Mom's memory, one lurid orange and florescent green LL Bean tote bag that immediately won me quite a bit of teasing from all assembled (inexplicable Dad present #2), and ... well, [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I made quite the cute picture bunched up on Anucha's loveseat with our Santa hats and matching stripy scarves. We look like refugees from the unmentioned Hogwarts house out behind Hagrid's hut. It certainly amused the hell out of Dad. *shakes head* Well. Long story short, everyone was sweet to the girl, she got some pretty good loot from the fam as did I, and luckily we have the suitcase space and a... very bright... tote bag to haul it all back to MA in tomorrow.

We're back in the Parsippany Sierra Suites tonight, and once again I sit in the computer room, pondering the mystery of the four US time zones plus, inexplicably, Dusseldorf. *shakes head* You would think it would bring back ghosts of the last time I was here... it sort of does, just a little bit, but not bad ones. Mostly the ones where most of my family was up in here laughing in horror at Vernon Robinson's campaign ads. And the night clerk recognized me as the midnight roamer from last time. Such a sweet chickie. I dunno - it's weird, but hey... hotel. I've always liked hotels. And this time I get to have girlie with me. Whee. :9

So, lel's been invited back by one and all, bread was a smashing success, and, according to D, I'm not related to him, I came out of an enchanted forest somewhere. O_o. Kids.

I've got more in here, but no way of expressing it in words without getting a snacky something. Plus I've got laundry spinning. Should go dry it now and see what the nightowl contingent of my family's up to.

Oh, shot out to my cousin Judy who apparently reads this thing. *wave* *kiss*
kjpepper: (so it goes. (abi station))
k that's MESSED up. I signed into one of these computers again this morning and it gave me my friends page from October 29. o_O don't these folks empty their caches? Jeebus.

My dad has incorporated the term "bling bling" into his lexicon. Somewhere in some remote corner of hell, little old ladies are frantically knitting sweaters.

We're heading over to the cemetery to say Merry Christmas to Mom before we head back to the city. Hopefully Sunny and I will be able to get home at a decent hour.

Also I've sworn to my family that I will be licensed by March so I can get Mom's car out of Anucha's driveway. o_O Well. Good to have a goal... and it looks like we're going to need some transport in the family soon since [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess' car's gone stupid. *crosses fingers*

gotta go pack now.
kjpepper: (batshit tenna (talk to spooky))
'Cause of course sunny and I were downstairs packed and ready before these folks managed to raise themselves from their breakfast table... ;)

Well first of all, there needs to be a serious picking up of the pace with the folks with whom I watch DVD series with. [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull and [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah, we need to have a Buffy/Angel weekend soon. :) Yikes, you know I found out that my sister Ruthy loves herself some Buffy? o_O

Also the Casita and [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams need to schedule another weekend of queerboys. Yes.

That said, I was thinking that something that could happen at either our house or elsewhere is maybe once a month a bunch of us could get together and have a stand-up comedian night. Cause I was thinking that there are some comedians I want to either see or share with friends, and you know how this shit's always much funnier in company. I was thinking maybe one night we could do "Royalty of Comedy," (Original Kings, Queens, Latin Kings, etc) and then other nights we could do people like Robin Williams, Lewis Black, Margaret Cho, EDDIE IZZARD!!!, Chris Rock... hell if we wanted to go super old school, maybe find a copy of Eddie Murphy Raw or some Richard Pryor or something. ;) Who would be up for that, and any suggestions?
kjpepper: (underpants!)

WE MADE IT! WE SURVIVED! YES! YES! WHOOHOO!

*dances*

Although with the bus running 45 minutes late outta Springfield due to the snow, I had my doubts as to whether we were coming home tonight. Ah well.

Turning on the heat now. It's freezing up in here.
