if you ban someone from commenting in your journal, the following very confusing things happen:
a) Semagic will tell you that the person has unfriended you. Your user info will also tell you this.
b) Semagic will also tell you that you have unfriended the person. Your user info will NOT tell you this.
c) The other person's userinfo will be as if nothing has happened.
d) if the banned person was on any of your friends filters, they will APPEAR to have been dropped from all of them. Notice the word appear.
e) all of the above is bullshit.
so someone whom I banned and subsequently thought dropped me in response read something I thought was filtered from them and dropped me an email being all like but but... mew? Oh... and I'm sorry for [reason banned].
Begin the batshit celebrity circus of aaaaaaaaaugh!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drama resolved positively, I think/hope, so maybe in the end it was a good thing. But OY. That was vastly unnecessary.
That and my tweaky workday aside, today was good. For those of you that didn't hear about it, I was majorly down last night, so
morlock was all like ok, you're not sleeping alone tonight and neither am I, so I'm coming to get your ass and the rest of you. Or something like that... so I got put to sleep with an episode of justice league and a nice cuddly bed, thanks to the weird electric bedwarmer doohicky his sister got him for ayyam-i-ha. I've never really understood the point of electric bedthingies, but hey, I was cozy.
Let's skip work as it was a batshit jamboree of stress, but the highlights were that
sundart and I had lunch out at Taipei and Tokyo which was wonderful, and athene was really helpful in calming me down from being a total twitchmonkey this afternoon - thanks guys.
I also got an amazing bit of email this afternoon!
aisha7576 emailed me saying she was mailing me a copy of a story I'd written back in high school that was nearly novel length, or would have been had I finished... alas most of the stuff I'd written pre college got completely lost in a nasty hard drive failure the summer after my first year, so I'd given it all up for lost, except for a few things here and there that harinezumi had copies of and thus managed to salvage... but this particular story I was especially sad to lose... It will be very weird revisiting this after nearly ten years, kinda like how reading through my old paper journals seems weird now. God, sometimes I just want to give my younger self a good shake sometimes. Reminds me, I started copying my old journals into LJ a couple of years back... someday I should finish that. Ah well, one more thing for the to do list... So anyway - really really excited to be getting that soon!
After work was quite lovely too, since I was collected by sunny and we were off to the Iron Horse for the Solas concert. Ye gods. They are utterly amazing live. I mean... Concerts in small close-packed venues, just full of that positive energy a room full of people loving the same thing all at once generates is wonderful, and there is just something about sitting in a room and hearing music, knowing that it's all being created and played in front of you... that's just friggin awesome. It helps if there are hot Irish girls playing the fiddle and singing. But I was especially happy when they played two of my favorite reels at the end of the show, "Bird in the Tree" and "The Flowing Bowl"... probably the only thing that would have made the night better was maybe a reappearance of "the Newry Highwayman," "Nil na la" or "Darkness Darkness." course, all three of those tracks I think require a percussion section, which they don't usually have. Ah well. Maybe next time they swing through? Anyway that was wicked fun, and though
inle_rah was sorely missed, I did have a rousingly good time with
sundart,
anzovin and
sydneycat, and ye gods, how is it that I always forget how heavenly the food at the Iron Horse is? I had this pulled pork sandwich that nearly made me melt into the floorboards with utter bliss. *sigh* I despair of ever managing to become a vegetarian... it's things like that that just have me utterly convinced that I'm a carnivore for life. Ah well - I supposed my only option is to make more money so I can at least have me some ethically raised meat...
I had an idea for a story while I was at the concert thinking about my old one coming in the mail... I'll have to think about this one for a bit. If the characters are still bitching at me tomorrow, I may have to write some ideas down. It's beyond good to be bitten by the writing bug again - it's been waaaaaay too fucking long.
Home after the concert, there to have an amusing conversation about attack wombs with
morlock over IM (which he felt the need to submit to bash.org - stay tuned as to whether it makes it), have an equally cracked conversation with my sister, and attempt to patch up the pikachu, I ban you drama... But on the merits of the good bits alone, I say today rounds off at a nice, solid 8/10...
