Nebulous trip planning
Sep. 10th, 2007 11:51 amCause a girl can dream, and save... right?
I want to take a few trips visiting places in the next little while. Mostly cause I have friends scattered far and wide, and also... getting out of one's familiar comfort zone can always be fun and interesting. I actually had a really good time in Cincinnati once the funeral and stuff were over. So while I'm thinking about stuff, here's a short list of things I want to do and places I want to go.
1) Seattle/Redmond/general northwestern US/Vancouver
I'd like to go to Vancouver for a day. See if I can find any organists driving Jettas. More importantly, I have a rapidly swelling list of friends who have settled up in Geek Country that I either haven't seen in years or haven't met yet. Plus several people are all like "MOVE OUT HERE" and I feel like even though my answer is pretty much no thank you (I like my snow) I'd like to at least see it before I reject it outright. And of course I have this theory that if I don't see
harinezumi in person once every couple of years or so, something bad happens. ;)
2) Austin, Texas
I know I know, ew, texas. But there is
athene/
lordaerith,
innostrantsa and
austingoddess to visit, and this curious place called the Alamo Drafthouse to see...
3) Washington, DC.
my sister,
masteradept, and a few other people would like to see me.
4) Orlando, FL
I'd like to go back to Disney World one last time as a grownup. There is something very appealing about going to such a family mecca without being stuck with either kids or parents and thus being able to ride Space Mountain seventeen times without consequence. Other than a permanently messed up sense of balance that is...
5) England + Europe in general
I've never been off this continent. I'd like to fix that soon. Plus seeing
harmanhay in her natural habitat would be rather smashing. And then I'd like to take a train into the rest of Europe.
6) Dubai, UAE
After they finish building the Burj, so this is about five years down the line. But after it's done, I'm so there. I seriously want to see with my own eyes a building twice as tall as my beloved Empire State.
7) Kyoto, Japan
I'd like to go to Japan at least once, and Kyoto seems a little more authentically Japanese than Tokyo. I could be way off there but that's the impression I got.
8) Cincinnati, OH
I would love to do ORF with
_kyri again, and this time see
bellarisa
I don't know... those are just the ideas I'd been having. I don't know if I'll get to execute them at all, but they make nice distractions from the thoughts I'd been having earlier.

Yesterday we went to Toddlerzilla's 3rd birthday party. When we arrived I scooped her up for a hug and exclaimed "Wow, you are SO THREE" to which she giggled and shook her head. "No, I'm only a little bit three," she corrected me, holding up her fingers to demonstrate how little bit three she was.
I think I died a little bit from the cute.
