Don't ask me why I'm up at 6:30 am this morning. For once in my life I was instantly awake when the alarm went off, only to discover that in a fit of something or other I had set it an hour early. Probably had something to do with the big fuzzy boy cat trying to get some lovins (and some food and water) just beforehand.

Memorial Day, though rainy, was good. I was up early, and in the several hours I more or less had the house to myself ([livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess sleeping, [livejournal.com profile] sundart working) I made some progress in formatting my journal, and in converting my hair from a nappy snarly mess to some semblance of order. At the same time I chatted with some folks on various IM mediums (Yay, Trillian) who I hadn't talked to in a while - [livejournal.com profile] jaicat (we've assimilated another one, muuuhahahaha!), and [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi, and [livejournal.com profile] blueraccoon and [livejournal.com profile] nireena. There was also this guy I knew from high school who I'd begun IMing last month with whom I had a very fun conversation. I'm vastly amused and a little bewildered by the phenomenon of guys from UNIS IMing me, chatting for a bit, the exorcising all the rauchly come-ons that they wanted to say back in tenth grade but were too chicken back then. It's happened twice now. Makes me really wish I had been much less inhibited. ;) All that repressed lust on all fronts couldn't have been healthy. That, and I feel like if I had had the guts to be straight up with certain people, even if they had rejected me outright, I would have been less inclined to mope and moon over them incessantly. Ah well. Lessons for the rest of my life, I guess. :)

At the same time, was having one of those marathon "We must process shit" conversations with [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi. (Boy there's a contrast, quasi-cybersex in one window, hunh! Angst in another.) Starting to wonder whether we'll ever get any of our mutual trauma resolved, but am impressed by the fact that we're still attempting to work on it. Anyway - we were on IM from about 9am to around 2ish, it was kind of insane, especially the Internal Family Systems moment I had when I couldn't actually express my emotional take on a situation until I gave each of my little voices a label and a chance to talk and wound up with this kinda harsh but ridiculously funny dialogue. I should do that more often - it was pretty scary, but I think it helped.

In other, non computer news, the rain sheeted down in copious quantities until late afternoon, when if quite abuptly slacked off. At which point Birthday Cholo y Vato Monica came over armed with marinating food, fired up the grill, and barbecued with a vengeance. Despite supreme stuff factor, I managed to cram down three hamburgers and a lot of french fries - wound up staggering around holding my belly a lot. And then the gathered company, including Monica's girl's kids, sang happy birthday and cut into her yummy cake. Oh wait, we might have all (not the kids, we shut them in Monica's room with a Disney flick) watched Friday After Next first. Damn ridiculous movie. "Our chicken is so good, makes you wanna slap yo' mama! C'mere, Mama . . . *smack!*" although the funniest part in my opinion had to be Damon the superbuff ex-con getting all hot and bothered by watching Tupac videos and subsequently doing this very cute bootie-shaking dance in front of the TV. The fact that this was a Christmas movie probably didn't help things.

7am. I don't wanna be at work in two hours. *whine* I'm going to be sooooooo busy . . . Well, I did want to go over to the copy shop first and get these journal entries cut - provided I can get the printer to run. *sigh*

It's just eight hours of my life - no big deal . . .
