Last night

Wow, Seders are long. But last nights was fun. It was kinda neat going through this whole long ritual dinner, and getting to wolf down the parsley dipped in salt water after everything was said and done. [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess' matzoh ball soup kicked ass seven ways from Sunday, gefilte fish is exactly as weird as I expected, and, despite her mishap with a grease fire the night before and some misadventures with some pots last night, [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams' potato latkes were really good too.

I forgot to mention that I got to meet d_d's critter. Joscelin turned out to be this perfectly sweet, laid back iguanadon that immediately took to sunny-d and me, probably because we offered a higher vantage point on the place than d_d normally does. ;) I now once again have some serious lizard lust. :)

There was a huge, pretty full moon last night, rising in just the perfect way to see it directly from where d_d had set up her table. It made me happy to see it, but also a little sad as well... yet another maker of time passing, time slipping unavoidably away from me. I also spent a lot of time contemplating [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams' apartment and appreciating her use of space and decor, and thinking about stuff.

We were all tired by the end of Seder (it was like 11:30 by the time we wrapped up) and earlier [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess wasn't feeling well so I had offered to drive home, but by the end of the night she'd started to feel better. She said I could still drive, though and so after a couple of false starts and some time getting used to handling her boat of a car enough to stop weaving around my lane (I'm more used to driving [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull's cars, I think, which tend to be smaller), I think I did fairly well. Oh, except for the part where I sort of fucked up the left turn onto our street I had to take by panicking and hitting the wrong pedal. Nothing got hit or died, but I did shake up beatgirl and [livejournal.com profile] sundart a bit with that one, and it's probably why I had this nightmare that I got pulled over with them in the car and somehow the three of us switched around so that [livejournal.com profile] sundart was in the driver's seat when the cop, this burly, ripped blond with too much gel, a thick accent of some sort and who was wearing his uniform like he was about to rip it off to pounding techno came over, revoked [livejournal.com profile] sundart's permit and fined her $245 for whatever violation I had committed. *sigh* I can never drive in my dreams, something fucked up always happens and they always end in death, dismemberment and angst. And I've been having them since I was like ten. Ah well. Here's to getting some practice. Hopefully there will be more of it soon. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah, let's figure out some time to get together.)

Gorgeous day out there today - perfectly blue sky, almost aggressively sunny. Spirit lifting really, and I could use it, I'm feeling rather daunted by the immediate challenges I'm facing. And I miss the Airman - wonder if he got back okay?

Ah well. Need to find something breakfast-like now.
