Evening...

My heavens, it was certainly ye evening of the toad, since [livejournal.com profile] sundart found a whopper in front of the President's House as we were cutting through Smith campus on our way to Osaka for a late dinner. I guess all the rain is bringing them out. Not that I mind, toads are adorable.

(Man that was a long sentence. If I'd thrown in some five dollar words I think it would have done Mojo-Jojo justice.)

[livejournal.com profile] birkwelch had neither done the hibachi thing before, nor finished an entire meal using only chopsticks, so he had both a fun and challenging evening. Osaka's food is always amazing (and day-amn but the waitstaff is cute), I think we had the same hibachi chef as last time though, as his routine was quite similar to what he'd done for [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I on our anniversary. Still, it's always eye-opening to watch someone juggle eggs, do some fancy hand moves that probably would have met with Hobiecat's approval had he not been too allergic to everything to venture out with us, suddenly switch to juggling two eggs with one hand and then have one egg quite land cozily in his hat. And the bit where he shoots a bit of cooked egg into people's mouths is mad funny. He's got very good aim, as [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch and I caught ours with no problem. [livejournal.com profile] sundart chickened out. :)

Anyhoo, good show, yummy food. Even if it did rise up to kill [livejournal.com profile] sundart's colon on the way home. Probably should have asked for no sesame seeds on her teriyaki eggplant.

It was a beautiful night to be wandering with good company and singing. [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I serenaded [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch with loud, raucous renditions of "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and "Nine Times a Night" on the way there. I would really like to take voice lessons sometime, I know there's a voice in there somewhere, evein if I haven't really used it in ten years.

On our way home we got passed by a suspiciously familiar Mercury with a suspiciously familiar giraffeglitterfag behind the wheel talking on a suspiciously familiar cell phone, don't know if she saw us, but we could then conclude with certainty that [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess had returned from her Canadian adventure. She had indeed, and returned to the Casita after [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch and I played some networked Puzzle Pirates (I need to look up more folks on that game, me hearties list is woefully bare), regaling me with joyous stories of her discovery of a Polish district in Toronto and all the treats and candy she got from there. Actually it was just a jamboree of Canadian edible goodies - she had expressed her massive glee at finding that they sold Kinder-Eggs at Canadian truck stops, not to mention she'd brought home all sorts of candy goodness. Including Canada's answer to a KitKat BigKat, which she brought back for me. (They call it the KitKat Chunky over there. And it comes in a big shiny red wrapper. And is yummy.) So I spent half an hour or so having [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess jump up and down and liberally spread her Canadian glee all over me, and give me chocolate, and that was fun.

All things considered, I got to bed a little earlier than I have been - around 2. It's Friday, and I've basically had my thumb up my ass all week, so I'm going to see if I can get a couple of things done today. I don't think I'm going anywhere this weekend, even though my conscience says I should go to NY, but all told, I don't really want to. Reminds me, I should definitely arrange to take a week off at the end of June/Julyish and ACTUALLY go visit [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi and not just threaten to - this bit where I threaten to plaster my presence all over him and then just... not is getting rather old. :) Ah well, I'll get down there at some point this summer or cheerfully die in the attempt. Should be interesting when I do finally get down there, I don't think [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi's had to put up with me being in actual proximity for anything over 2 days since we were both in 7th grade together...

Hmm... did anything else of note happen yesterday? no... okay, I guess I'm done then. I should probably go figure out why all the cats are jumping all over each other's jocks this morning anyway.

athene? When are you generally free? I'm free after 1 for the forseeable future if you're still offering that spin. :)

Err, I'll be out of the country between June 30 and July 13, so end of June/Julyish isn't really feasible ^^;
