kjpepper: (happy me (grass))

No, that wasn't supposed to be alliterative.

On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] morlock, [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat, [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I went to the Peace Pagoda in Leverett! We got kind of a late start because I managed to get on the bus with sunny and leave my wallet at the JMG bus stop, and then I had to get off and go get it *sigh* There's an annoying story, but never mind. I caught the next bus over and we all met up and went out to brunch at the diner in Hadley. We made a quick stop for gas (hence the silly pic of syd - think Cumby's is pushing some sort of agenda? ;) ) headed up to Leverett from there and totally didn't get lost for once (yay!). [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat even got to drive for a little bit. Reminds me - need more practice meself.

Anyway we got there, and hiked up that crazy steep trail to the pagoda itself. We apparently got there at a good time, because we got there just as some folks were leaving and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves except for a couple that apparently missed the point of PEACE Pagoda. You know, in a place where even your footsteps seem too loud... you would think you'd get the message to keep conversation low.

We did enjoy it there though. The four of us kinda wandered around on our own doing our own little spiritual things. I took my shoes of and ran around the grass and sand barefoot and let out my inner six year old, the one who liked to sit on the grass and watch all the insects go by. Or in this case the frogs! OMG, there were so many little frogs in the pond this time around. And big fat tadpoles about to sprout legs that would wobble to the surface and catch the insects sitting on or just above the surface. [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat found fairy toadstools - they looked almost like there should be smurfs living in them.

I actually didn't feel too much like taking pics once we got there, so I just took a pic of the pagoda and then one of the view from the pagoda, where on a clear day, you can see the taller buildings of UMass. But everyone else at various points wandered off with my camera and took pics.

After the Pagoda, [livejournal.com profile] sundart let slip that I'd never seen Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, so everyone insisted that we rent it and watch it, so we stopped at Pleasant Street, then went home to correct this oversight in my movie watching experiences. I did like it though, so I didn't object too much. And then we all were immediately sucked in my the unholiness that is VH1 and the 100 greatest one hit wonders of all time...

Overall a pretty wonderful afternoon was had by all I think.
