soooooo tired...
Oct. 27th, 2004 12:28 amSpent the evening at kinkos wrangling thirty photographs of mom, kids and grandkids into a harmonious 11x17. Not my best work, but the Valkyries and Dad were quite pleased by what I came up with, not to mention quite impressed with how I touched up a rather scratched but very good picture of Mom to frame and use at the services. Every so often it's nice being validated for the little things you have the l33t sk1llz for, especially by folks who tend to only see your "I screwed up again, whoops" sides.
Kinkos was irritating, though. Mostly because it cost $27 per hour for the privilege of using a scanner and photoshop for the evening. Never more have I missed home and personal copies of Photoshop and
beatgoddess's scanner. *sigh* Not to mention the hour long debacle where my bank card wouldn't go through and I had to hunt for a Fleet/bank of america ATM around Chelsea to fix the problem. DOn't get it. There are three Fleet ATM locations within five blocks of each other in Northampton but in NY? Uh uh. And then there was the bit where I'd thought I'd lost my wallet, cause really, I welcome more stress right now. :P Still, I was very glad of the chance to be out of the house and away from the circus for the evening. Anyway. Everythings done, burnt to CD and the adults are mindbogglingly impressed with me. I've accomplished much today.
A little thing over money this morning between R and Dad is making me wonder whether I get my financial irresponsibility from Dad. Point to ponder. And Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, if one more person points out that I look exactly like Mom (including myself) I'm gonna go postal. :P
holy shit, this may indeed have been the first time I've seriously felt the need to buckle up in the back of a cab; the driver tonight was an absolute maniac. It usually takes 45 min and $26 (sans tip) to get home from the city; this guy made it in half an hour and $21. Apparently it is possible to maintain speeds of over 50 mph on the streets of NY. Cabs are psycho - Diane Duane had the right of it where the cabs were these carnivorous street monsters in an alternate NY in So You Want To Be A Wizard. Speeds like that + potholes + andee eating pretzels = Andee getting stabbed, rather hard, in the upper lip. Ow.
And now, sweet sweet collapse. Thank you, house, for letting me sleep. I wonder if Mom has something to do with that...
