News of interest
Nov. 1st, 2004 03:13 pma) the Academy is hosting the Fourth Anime Fest on Nov 13. They've been doing quite well with that, considering these started happening, what, about a year ago? A quick glance at the offerings seems to be the usual batch of one excellent movie (this time it's Millennium Actress (Sennen Joyu), which I HIGHLY recommend - probably one of the most breathtakingly beautiful stories ever to be animated - and the animation's not something to sneeze at either.) and three somewhat sillier selections. I'm going to at least see the aforementioned movie - I've wanted to see it again for a little bit now. Anyone wanna come?
b) The Space Crime Continuum is donating 50 cents per paperback, $1 per hardcover to the Northampton Survival Center. Considering they can order just about any book imaginable, as well as their usual stock of mysteries, sci/fi fantasy, gamer bookshelf filler, and comics, might want to toss a few bucks their way for a good cause, no?
c) Cinemark's doing it's Friday night flashback thing this Friday at midnight - this week's feature is the original Clerks! I'm so supposed to be there Friday. ;)
d) This is more of a question than news, but I'm curious as to what people are planning tomorrow night (oh yeah, there's a poly meetup, isn't there?) in terms of holing up in front of (pick channel here) and watching the national drama unfolding. Honestly I'm surprised Haven's not having a red black and blue theme night or something. But yeah. Thoughts?
