Well. It's been a couple of days!
Yesterday was Bosslady's Hexmas Extravaganza... this year her big idea wasn't to go someplace with the office (or as is usually the case, a whole bunch of someplace, but to go sometime. So... we were picked up by the same white stretch SUV limo that got us for the summer event, and taken to Castle of Knights in Chicopee (!!!) and then, once there, Bosslady pulled out a fuckload of medieval costumes - knights, ladies, crusaders and jesters, and one wizard costume (which was promptly and very appropriately snagged by matt) - and told us to dress up! Meanwhile I found myself a stretch velvet purple and black jester outfit (yay!) which I later discovered makes for very cozy pjs. I also just happened to be wearing my unitard underneath my clothing, it served quite appropriately under the jester outfit and later the Red Queen outfit I put on. Sunny had a purple and green lady Juliet outfit - she later switched it out for a red and silver knight outfit. She makes a very hot Joan of Arc. ;)
We had to compete for forks, since they were a rare commodity in our little medieval paradigm - four people got them initially, the rest of us had to trade, win, or entertain for them. :) Which was fine, really, as you only really needed them for salad during breakfast and lunch, and by dinnertimes all of us got them. After breakfast, we scattered to play with the scattered castle/knight themed toys, puzzles and books Bosslady put out with us - need to find me a cathedral set, I think - and then we hung around in our finery, getting smashed, shooting the shit, and encouaging rukasboy to get his ass kicked at plastic fencing against Pax and do other tricks for our amusement (well even though he started out as the king, he spent the better part of the day dressed as a jester and telling really bad jokes. We kinda wound up the afternoon with a rather lively discussion with a very drunk R about the finer logistics of polyamory. It's kinda fun watching her boggle about the fact that I'm currently dating Pax's ex's fiance. So so easy to make people's brains explode. Yes.
Dinner was absolutely fabulous (note to self, find out some concrete info on the cost of CoK's banquet facilities - place is perfect for some sort of masqued ball), and as entertainment, Bosslady managed to scare up the Villa Jidiots. God, improv comedy is wonderful stuff. Take three random phrases ("It's so great to hear from you" "I found Jesus - he was under the couch the whole time" "It's your body") create a madrigal from them, and you come up with three sopranos at one point singing "Jesus, jesus, what a body" or "I found your body under the couch..." or "It's so great to hear from Jesus." Very Christmassy.
And we got presents! Aside from drawing the various games and puzzles and costumes out of a copper pot, Bosslady displayed her natural aplomb for giving gifts. So my total take included the purple jester and red queen outfits, an unopened knight costume w/ sword (which I later gave to
morlock), a book on how to draw medieval fantasy creatures, a plastic knight figurine, a book on dragon lore, and an itsy bitsy Hess tanker truck. Whee!
It was getting late by then, so we opted not to go to Bright Nights... everyone seemed to have things to do and sunny and I were no exception, since we had to do trash when we got home and before we did that we had to get kitty litter. So after we got back to the office, we started jonesing for a lift to stop n shop. We wound up getting leftover limo. *laugh* well, not everyone can say they got driven to the supermarket for cat litter and then home in a limo...
Spent the rest of my solstice first collecting a little more holiday loot (
morlock came bearing an offering of 2004 Hess Hummer goodness - hoohaha!) and hanging out over at
morlock's. Way to spend my longest night. >;) Today was kinda subdued - long but productive day at work, and thinking about stuff I wanna accomplish next year. I might make a post about it when 2004 enters its first stages of rigor mortis.
