kjpeppergot-DAMN but it's hot. sheeeeit.
Overall a fairly lazy lazy day. And just think, I have one more day of weekend left. Yum.
We recieved a P-corperation package from the Shanti today, which was full of the usual ridiculous goodies, gashupon, toys, pez dispensors, coloring books (including one with a Furby theme that I'm sure Shanti meant just for me), and puzzles, plus letters for the![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
sundart and the beatgoddess. I found it amusing that this huge honking thing arrived two days before the Shanti himself does. What I found amusing in a completely exasperated and admiring way was that I recieved payback for the several pages of letter I had sent him in Anglo Saxon Runic ages ago in the form of a six page plus letter written in an alphabet he had devised himself that sort of reminded me of a Matrix screen printout, and of course, being Shanti, didn't bother including a key . . . so I spent about half an hour deciphering the alphabet, and another hour getting comfortable enough to (slowly) read it without transliterating it back to english. Several hours and some seriously bad eyestrain later (boy am I glad I'm going to the eye doctor Tuesday morning, cause I seriously need some new glasses) I got to the end of the letter, please with myself for not giving up the challenge despite the fact that the last three pages required me to turn the letter upside down every other line. I'm going to kill that boy when he gets here. :) Have to exact hideous revenge . . . and finish Cryptonomicon, come to think of it. I was waylaid again by the Order of the Phonix and several other books that interested me much more . . . but damn it I will not give it up . . .
One of the toys we recieved in the box is this sort of ice cube looking type plastic thingy that looks like it contains peices of crushed plastic inside, that lights up with a bright orange light when you bang it in a certain way. I want more of these, they're fun!
In other news between Shanti's impending arrival and the heat (oog, if I didn't mention earlier) I have hit a roadblock in my php endeavors - the book I've got is NO help about using time functions. Maybe I'll write what I need done in Javascript and send it off toharinezumi for translation, as I learn these things best by imitation rather than by theory then application. Anyway, it's too hot to be sitting in the red computer chair anyway - my butt is currently sticking to it, and I know that if I sit here long enough, a thin film of sweat will allow me to skid around in the chair. Squelch. So I better save programming to a cooler time of day. Besides, I have chinese food to eat. And I know I saw a jigsaw puzzle in the Shanti box, though I know if I pull that shit out I will have committed myself to sitting there and finishing it, as several peeps will have colossal fits if I leave it unfinished and puzzle pieces strewn everywhere for cats to lose in the night. Luckily I think its only a 500 piece, and those are only an evenings worth of work. maybe I'll take some movies with me or something. Anyway.
Mom called earlier, mostly to nag and tease me about why I haven't ordered the clothes from Lane Bryant on her gift cards yet. *sigh* As if the timeframe in which I do so will change the course of the world! Sheesh.
I think its time to check if my beef with broccoli is cold enough to eat yet.
