Jul. 6th, 2003 10:46 amI would like to take this opportunity to give mad props to
beatgoddess for pointing me to the
boondocks LJ comic feed. I've giggled a LOT the past three mornings. Wonder if they have one for Dykes to Watch Out For? or FoxTrot? probably . . . I'll probably look after I'm done here.
I did some work with the dragonsea front page, and just discovered it's not working (still night in dragonsea land instead of showing a pretty afternoon.) considering the way I have it set up is pretty clunky, I'll probably apply the mind bogglingly simple change
harinezumi told me about last night and start working on the other parts of the script. Not much point in doing too much work as I only have five images rendered currently, but the least I could do is get the image to match the time of day. maybe? *sigh*
speaking of el russo, had one of those late night conversations last night with him, until almost 4 am. I think it will be one of the last of the ancient history processing sessions, if not the last, because some stuff that was said did amount to some sort of closure on past hurts. About time too - I've been carrying around a lot of this crap for the better part of a decade, but don't think it could have been achieved any earlier since he needed some context dropped on his head to fully understand what I was going through, and boy did he ever get some. But still, I was glad I was able to talk and process it with him instead of on my own - I probably would have carried it to the grave otherwise. This way I can begin letting a lot of the past shit go, and if not start over, at least begin writing the sequel . . . Though it would help if I were writing in general. *growl, bitch* I also just finished and sent a rather difficult email to a friend that I'd been meaning to write for a while but have been procrastinating madly from. Here's hoping that comes out all right. *crosses fingers*
just noticed the alarmingly long list of Wesley Willis tracks
beatgoddess wants to download and probably has in the past week. Am very frightened. Although I do like Wesley Willis. Gotta love them big black schizophrenic homeless guys armed with a Casio keyboard set to Country/Rock 8 (tempos vary) who end every song with "Rock over London, Rock over Chicago," and an ad slogan. You can usually figure out how old the songs are by figuring out when the slogans date from. Remember when Blockbuster Video's tagline was "Wow, what a difference?" *shakes head* Gawd, I sense that it's almost time for both a music collection tag/reindex/standardize jamboree. It's also probably time to completely dump the contents of my nomad and load afresh, as I have duplicates and crap I just don't listen to on there right now.
Not sure how I will dispose of my sundae (ha, I wish . . . although there doth exist some frozen chocolate pudding in the fridge, mmm mmm!) but it will probably involve staying cool, PHP and vegging out. I've decided I like PHP. I haven't really liked a programming language this much since my C and Java years, but PHP may warrent a large hardcover SAMS publishing tome to rest alongside the HTML and JAVA manuals we possess. That's how much I'm having fun with it!
Well, gotta pee, so I guess I'll wrap up!

NO NO NO NO NO
Date: 2003-07-06 01:15 pm (UTC)Remember that other time that you renamed all the music and none of the playlists worked and you were sad because you had to remake all of them? Well, that will happen 20 times worse now because we have 39 times more playlists now!
No! None! Zero renaming! Zero reindexing! Leave the shit as it is!
Thank you, drive through. Heat's getting to me...

Date: 2003-07-06 06:06 pm (UTC)As for the tagging/labelling new-download problem: We should all be tagging/labelling right when the music hits the computer (I do it right when it's downloaded, and I assumed everyone else did the same), or right as it's being assigned to its permanent home in the D drive. If that hasn't been happening, then not only should we all try harder to do it, but we should do periodic checks to make sure people are being cool and burn their nads off if they're not?
By the way, remember how there used to be different icons for an mp3 and an m3u? Why is it all one icon now? How do we fix it?
(P.S., Out of the 109 playlists we have, I can probably only claim 40 at maximum. You've burned a lot more CDs than I have. Besides and regardless, that seems like a 52% of the pie thing to say; no matter how few or many playlists I got, or how many of your playlists could be thrown out, I don't like having to make all mine again, with no warning. That was all (and is all) I wanted to say. *smile*)
