kjpepper: (batshit tenna (talk to spooky))

First of all, I would like to state that I fucking hate mosquitoes. Looks like this year, as in every other year, my arms will be peppered with little scars from scratching.

That said, the editor would like to make a correction: On the songs without words mix I did wind up swapping two songs on the second side for Celestial Soda Pop. Side B now reads as follows:

  • Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
  • Ray Lynch - Celestial Soda Pop
  • Henry Mancini - Baby Elephant Walk
  • Delerium - Gateway
  • Chopin - Walz Triste (Waltz in C# minor)
  • Dave Brubeck - Take Five
  • The Grateful Dead - Serengetti
  • Brother Bones - Sweet Georgia Brown (Harlem Globetrotters Theme. Yep, go ahead and beat the New Yorker)
  • The Ventures - Wipeout
  • Squirrel Nut Zippers - The Interlocutor
  • Yann Tiersen - La valse d'Amélie (orchestral - Amélie)
  • Steve Sharples - Bolero (Moulin Rouge! End Titles)
  • Vangelis - Hymn

I'm glad I did so, actually. Celestial Soda Pop was the song that started the whole songs without words trend for me, and I clearly remember hearing it for the first time, years ago at Smith. I was working in the WAG (back when it was still in the Jahnige lab in the basement of Wright Hall) until closing, and had borrowed [livejournal.com profile] sundart's walkman and the mix tape she had gotten from [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch that year, and CSP was the first song on one side, and I heard it . . . and then proceeded to rewind and play it again about forty million times that night. I closed up WAG that night, rewound it again, and returned home with a bubbly bounce in my step as I listened to it yet again.

So, clearly, it has to be on here! It's my Fisher Price® My First Song Without Words™! How could I not?

I'm really happy with the way the mix came out. I'm also really happy with the fact that I don't have to use Mix Meister to record it, as the program for some reason is making the music hitch periodically. I at first blamed this on Austin's air conditioner as it makes everything else in the house surge when it shifts gears, but then I tried recording the mix I had made for Carole et. al. without it on, and it's still fucking up. Must be a process running in the background. Ah well, hopefully I will figure out what's going on, as one of my errands today includes a trip to the Post Office, and hopefully I can get three tapes recorded by the time I have to go . . .
