Here I sit, laughing my ass off.

Last summer, almost a year to the day, [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams introduced me to a game called Bop It, via one of those cool pens that are miniature versions of board games, except hers was a miniature Bop It, complete with beatbox and instructions. Essentially what you have to do is follow the instructions given to you while a beatbox goes on in the background, by the next beat otherwise you lose. The beat gradually increases in speed. So I've wanted one of my own for a while - first the pen, which I still kinda feel like picking up if I see again, then the original Bop It, then the Bop It Extreme, which has two more functions just to make matters more . . . interesting. Anyway, I had forgotten about them until recently until I noticed that KayBee Toys in the Hampshire mall has started clearance racking them, as was Toys R Us in the Holyoke Mall today. So I brought one home, and have gotten fairly good at it in a short amount of time. And I am vastly amused by it. I should send my awful sister's kids a couple of these. That would drive her to distraction faster than anything else, especially if they wind up liking it. I'm evil.

Today's trip to the mall was detrimental to my wallet, but otherwise quite fun. [livejournal.com profile] sundart went to the optometrist, and I got some nummy lunchies at the Japanese restaurant in the food court. mmm, tangerine chicken . . . Then I wandered back to see how she was doing and got stuck waiting for her, so I read through some more of Kushiel's Avatar, which I'll probably finish tonight. She came out, eyes all dilated (not diluted, as I had originally written), and then promptly discovered that she had forgotten her little sunglass clipons, so they gave her this translucent plastic thingummie to wear behind her glasses to cut down the glare and made her look like a cartoon character.

We then got to pick out new spectacles! [livejournal.com profile] sundart found small deep bronze frames that were significantly smaller than her old frames, and complimented the red tones in her hair, not to mention actually brought out her striking eyes much more than her last pair, which covered them up more . . . they were mad sexy! Alas for me, my lenses are on 2 week order, as they had no antireflective lenses in the shop. . . so I have to go back at some point. The frames I picked out were pretty sweet though - also smaller and lighter, with a brassy reddish color that looks good against my skin rather than the solid black ovals I now wear. Man I hate waiting . . . but it shall be worth it when I finally do get them!

We wandered around the mall some then - Goth-in-a-Box - er, Hot Topic, for "it's happy bunny" and dark fairy/angel postcards. Spencer Gifts, in search of the mysterious ice cube raver toy that [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch had sent. (no luck there.) Christmas Tree Shops, for appealingly cheap tchochkes (I know I'm not spelling that right) - we found a photo album for me and my Smith Pics, and some candy and stuff, plus ogled satin embroidered pillows for our bed. Fredrick's of Hollywood, for a catalog. (no luck, and [livejournal.com profile] sundart wouldn't try on the bias cut negligee she's been drooling over for years either, damn it.) We also browsed Waldenbooks and revisited children's picture books we liked growing up. I was profoundly weirded out by the fact that the teenybopper series I liked and grew up with were out of print and gone, replaced by endless Mary Kate and Ashley books. A moment of silence, please, for Sweet Valley High and The Babysitters' Club. *sigh* Ann M. Martin went to Smith, and I WILL have my copy of Kristy's Big Day autographed, by golly.

What else did we do? paid a visit to Toys R Us, and Victoria's Secret was having a sale on their Jockey quality (even better, I think) high cut briefs, so I had to get some of those, and I picked out two new and sexy pairs of pants from Lane Bryant, courtesy of one of my other sisters (Thanks Woofy!) which I'll pick up tomorrow when we all go back to get [livejournal.com profile] primative_boy's glasses. Overall, a good trip to the mall was had by both. :)

we came home, sharing tunes on the nomad like we had when we went to Elmira, bopping fiercely to the new gothy stuff I had amassed in the past week, singing along to the songs that came up that we knew, and just quietly reminiscing to others. And then we arrived back . . .

There are still some network issues to be worked out over here. The Mac is being recalcitrent about being on the network, much to the frustration of Austin, whose troubles were briefly alleviated by the superloud, surfer voiced siren call of the Bop It. And as for me, I can't get Semagic to work on this computer for anything. I should really heed [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi's advice, plop all my writings on the music drive of Austin's machine, and then completely wipe Master Freak's hard drive and reinstall windows. Possibly a project for next weekend, maybe. Or tomorrow if I wake feeling ambitious (fat chance). I also need to figure out how to migrate all of my Outlook Express sentmail on Austin's computer to my Eudora on this machine too.

Anybody have any ideas on how to do any of this stuff? I'm listening . . .

One thing I can do now is copy down the sendmail instructions from OE and enter them in here, so I can reply to some email received . . . and then go finish Kushiel's Avatar. Or play some more Bop It. Or go play with the girl. Either way . . . what bliss.

Bop It Good!

Hee hee! I can't wait to see Bop It Extreme! I think the one that T. at CH had was just a regular Bop It!
