Nov. 26th, 2005 02:07 pmHey,
htl_1126...
You know... it's kinda sad when a commercial can affect you almost to the point of tears.
See there's this Cingular commercial. It's actually the first one they released in the Raising the Bar campaign, where this guy in a convertible drives across the country to see his girl in San Francisco (cue lots of hidden five bar imagery). Anyway, it ends with him pulling up in front of her house and sending her a TM that says "LOOK OUTSIDE" and then the camera cuts to him, sitting in the car with a big doofy smile... and that's the end of the commercial. I've always been kind of mad about that, 'cause I wanted to see what her reaction was, you know? It didn't feel like a satisfactory ending.
Well, they now have a new commercial where chickie is in her new place, unpacking boxes full of pictures of her and her guy (one pic seems to imply he's her husband), she gets the text message, sees him outside, and then leaps into his arms in a big overexuberant display of OMGwhatareyoudoinghereyaybbq!
Yeah, it's silly, and it's not as if you don't know from the other commercial that she was going to be overjoyed to see him, but it was good to get the resolution, you know? It was kind of like back in the 80s when I actually got kinda involved in those Taster's Choice commercials with the ongoing story arc between the redhead and her distinguished, perpetually out of coffee British neighbor (incidentally, played by Anthony Steward Head of Buffy and Rocky Horror fame).
Ok, time for me to stop being a sappy doof.
A not to self from last night - the ABC has a tasty little confection called the Grateful Dead. Tasty, drunk making shit, let me tell you. :) That and other than whupping
morlock's ass at pool (mostly by accident), I've rediscovered that I'm fairly decent at darts. Guess the hours last spring I spent contemplating
harinezumi's living room dartboard paid off...
Note to self from today - *sigh* One of these days, I need to go to Newbury Comics and get something for me. It's insane, I love that store, I can see it from my friggin window, and yet, somehow I only make it in there to get other people stuff. Course, never having money also has something to do with that.
Tonight I am going to
htl_1126 and
drklord1922's party with
sydneycat... This weekend's been so weird, Thursday was Thanksgiving, and both yesterday and today have both felt like Sunday. Which sorta sucks. No weekend needs more than one Sunday...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Not like I'm not going to see you later, but hey.You know... it's kinda sad when a commercial can affect you almost to the point of tears.
