You know you're addicted when...
Jan. 29th, 2006 11:00 amYou know it's bad when I start friggin DREAMING about wikipedia. But I just woke up from a rather hilarious dream that ended with me reading the damn site again. That's what a get when the last thing I read before going back to bed last night is recaps of the two soaps i used to watch as a kid...
Anyway I dreamed I was at the rehearsal dinner for a wedding that I didn't think I'd been invited to, but apparently I was. Weird. But it was a very large shindig, and for some reason everyone who would have been at the wedding the next day was also at the dinner, it was odd. (must have been a very poly friendly crowd, as the couples third was there as well, dressed as a strange takeoff of a white goth mime and kept doing naughty things to the bride, while the groom pretended to be angry but really he was laughing...
athene was there, as were
sydneycat,
lysscat,
jade_eyes13,
morlock,
cell23/
chirping_monkey/spawn, + everyone
morlock games with up in Squillage,
fireheart... basically all of the Valley Gamers were there, including
captainlove, who looked strange and out of place wearing white cargo pants+sweatshirt+skullcap, but it was a wedding, after all. The usual bit where everyone knows me in that particular scene but I couldn't remember most peoples names for the life of me happened... Turned out it was rehearsal dinner/Larp, so after the wedding had been very quickly run through, dinner had been served, they started playing and apparently I went on Wikipedia. Quite by accident, I found an article all about the Valley Gaming scene that read like a recap of one of the soaps I was looking up - basically detailing the creation and runs of the games/Larps, who was playing and which ones were still running, 5con, SSFFS, whatever the UMass Gaming society's called,
spacecrime/showcase/
modernmyths/
phoenixgames, Squillage (all with links to their own articles) and a detailed history of ALL the drama (in game and out of game!) dating back to 1994, which is pretty much everything I knew about it written down in wikipedia format. I woke up nearly giggling, it was so ridiculous. Now I'm half tempted to go look shit up and see if it's actually there!
The only kinda frustrating thing about the dream was that at the beginning of it I was sitting in the corner of a music store (presumably downtown sounds but the layout was way different) picking up my violin after getting it serviced. I was waiting around and idly picked up what looked like a thick stringed mandolin, and started writing a pretty decent song all things considered, and I don't remember a chord or a lyric of it now, just the general sentiment. Argh. I wrote it down in the dream, for fuck's sake, you would think that would make you remember stuff...
Anyway, it was a nice apology from my subconscious for the last dream. Sheesh.
