Better now
May. 17th, 2006 10:17 pmBurger King, the first volume of Sandman and the always calming presence of teh
morlock does wonders for an unexpected spike of adrenaline and the resulting nerve janglies.
Yeah so I'm on my usual bus home and as we were crossing the Coolidge Bridge this guy driving a big pickup with a bigger grey trailer (it wasn't a horse trailer but it was about the right size for one) comes zooming out of nowhere on the right (he had to be going 60, and I'm pretty sure the speed limit on the bridge is like 40). I'd looked up from what I was reading because right before he showed up there was quite the racket of horns behind us... probably cause this guy was speeding. Anyway, he comes rocketing by the bus with maybe six inches of clearance and apparently either tried to cut in front or drifted closer than he already was (!!!) and the back of the trailer slams into the the front window and door of the bus.
Like I said earlier... that'll wake you up.
No one was hurt, luckily and other than the front right lights and the bottom of the door and some scraping, the bus was pretty okay. The trailer was dented to fuckall, which is proof again that Bus Always Wins.
Anyway, there was about half an hour of taking names and waiting for cops and another bus and one of the guys that was on the bus was apparently really running late because he took off and hitched a ride on rt 9 and left his bike on the rack (dumbass) and as testiment to the resilience of human beings, the three girls who'd been sitting closest to the front had the shock of what happened wear off quickly enough to start bitching in short order about how they HAD to get to the Mall and that they should have waited for the next bus and schmoo. Must have been a hot sale at PacSun they were missing. *eye roll*
Anyhoo, understandibly I was a little shaky, so I got off to go see
morlock at work and collect me a hug. Wound up staying until he closed.
Finished volume 1 of the Sandman while I was there. No, I hadn't read it before now. Shocking, I know. I tried reading it ages ago during a game weekend at
extrajoker's and got about a quarter way through it before putting it down in disgust. I was pretty anti-superhero comics once upon a time, so finding a stray frame of Batman was enough to put me off then. This time around it was a lot better, probably because I've since lost the bias and have since picked up the general gist of the DCU by osmosis and the occasional Batman/JLA cartoon episode - all of which is morlock's fault, of course. So I definitely enjoyed it this time around, and am looking forward to reading the rest.
And now, back to your regularly scheduled portfolio. Gorram pictures. But first something that made me laugh. A LOT.
