kjpepper: (determined Igra)

I slept yesterday. First for much of the morning after [livejournal.com profile] timarok departed, was awakened briefly by [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull arriving to pick up [livejournal.com profile] sundart and the possibility presented by me for a hike around Mt. Sugarloaf, but I had been up nearly all night the previous night and wasn't moving a centimeter from my nice warm bed for anything but a full bladder. Got up for about an hour or so to play with LiveJournal, went back to bed, snoozed for another hour, read a little bit of House of Gaian, and then [livejournal.com profile] sundart and g.g. came back in, armed with a huge pot of canning supplies, as they had made a stop at Foster Farrar's. [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull stayed to hang out for a bit...

Can't remember if it was this time around or when she first came when she started to play this game with my half asleep self. She would grab a book off of my bookshelf and read a little bit of the opening paragraph, and I would have to guess which book it was. Even semi conscious I was really good at it, getting most of then in a sentence, one or two within a paragraph, and one took snippets from the introduction the prologue and the first chapter, but I eventually got it (that was Jurassic Park - I think it's been about a decade since I read that cover to cover - I remember Stanley giving that to me as preparation for seeing the movie, and cautioned me not to read it at night - I found out why the hard way). Just goes to show how well I know my own books - a lot of those volumes are my oldest friends.

Did some writing practice with [livejournal.com profile] sundart in the new quad notebook I got the other day. I've decided I like writing in quad notebooks. The rules are even smaller than college ruled, which I like a lot - there is nothing in this world I loathe more than wide ruled paper - and when I run out of things to say, I easily fall into my old high school habit of doodling three dimensional geometric patterns with the squares. I've decided I like writing practice, I like the freedom and rawness of it, and the feeling of data dumping it has as it streams directly from head to pen(cil). Much as I love writing in livejournal I am constantly aware that I'm writing for an audience so I'm not quite as free with it and have a tendancy to censor myself. I think what I may start doing is taking some of the topics I cover in writing practice and copying out the good parts.

I also rediscovered a collection of small stories i had started a couple of years ago about this fabulous brothel started by these awesome women and the adventures had by the cast of colorful lords and ladies and their customers. Had some good stuff there, I should work on it more if the inspiration strikes.

Alas, not now, I do have some stuff I have to get done today. Taking a page out of [livejournal.com profile] athene's book, I shall post my to-do list here:

  • shower
  • charge some batteries for the Nomad. In progress!
  • Do the leaning tower of laundry in our room all done!
  • put final version of Starlit Highway onto the Nomad. Updated, defragged, and relabeled, beee-yotch.
  • check email, write back to [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch if he wrote. No email for me. Sadness.
  • dishes [livejournal.com profile] primitive_boy did them today. Yay!
  • clean up and sweep roomRoom mostly clean. Fuck the sweeping for now.
  • a good hour's worth of writing practice Clocked in at 45 min. Maybe I'll work a little bit on some stories later.
  • take violin downtown to get support peg reattached It's actually called a soundpost. And it won't be ready for a little while.
  • whilst downtown, deposit hot tub money alas, spent it shopping today...
  • pay credit card bill yay, online banking!
  • pay other bills
  • pirate ordering for halloween
  • get that application for readmission filled out
  • lay out at least some of [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch's present
  • schedule in some gym time for this week. Gotta bite the bullet and just go I'm going to attempt to get up and go tomorrow morning.
  • reshelve books reshelved and reorganized, thank you!

  • Pick up ingredients for [livejournal.com profile] sundart's batshit baked goods circus. Ah, the joys of living with a domestic goddess and a transexual faggy leatherboy. But argh, having to bike 4.7 miles in the rain!

That's probably enough for one day, but if I'm going to get this all done, I'd best get cracking.
