kjpepper: (a panther in winter)
[personal profile] kjpepper
Don't get me wrong, I love me some winter. But it does boggle my mind that while we've come up with a way of carrying days of recorded music on a device smaller than a pack of cigarettes and made it possible to stay in touch with people wherever and whenever, we still haven't come up with a method of snow removal that doesn't leave behind that lovely patina of ice that's far more treacherous than slush could ever aspire to be in its wildest slushy dreams.

I would probably be less grumpy about this if I knew where my other Timberland boot was.

I thought the link was disturbing enough, but now that Konstantin is plotting evil with them is just fucking frightening. Thanks a lot, D.

In Pittsburgh, the approach seems to be to apply 2 inches of salt for each inch of snow. In Seattle, the rains do the work of snow removal for us.

Heh. I had similar thoughts about the lack of advances in technology when I was lugging the 150 pound air conditioner up the steps on the hottest day of this summer. I mean, really. We can't come up with a better system for this stuff? Well, I can't...but someone should.
