kjpepper: (hot stuff)

My throat is sore. Not from illness, or anything bad, but from yelling "Arrrgh" and "Avast ye, bilge rats" upwards of five hundred times this evening. :)

[livejournal.com profile] sundart and I awakened to Pirate Fairyland, as [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess had decorated the house all night for the post treating party, and my did it look marvelous! Asspiratry began at around 1:30, when [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull showed up, tricked out in full pirate wench getup, with extra scarves, sharp props, Jack the skeleton, and the Wreck of the Pirate Ship Homie theme cake. :) Of course, she looked so good that I had to get into my own pirate getup, then [livejournal.com profile] sundart got into hers, and the three of us went outside to hang out and be all piratical. Silliness abounded with duels to the (fake) death, and me up in the crow's nest (read up on the porch roof) with a spyglass heckling passing dogwalkers, joggers and pedestrians.

Sundown we started piping sea chanties and music out of the window and lit the thirtyish candles in little red bags, and g.g. very artfully placed then all down our front walk. The luminaria, plus the red light on the porch with the Jolly Roger blowing in the breeze was very cool, plus there were spears planted on either side of our porch. And then... my god. A cubic fuckload of kids ages 2-15 came a swarming in their quest for booty, and during the course of the evening the crew swelled from g.g. [livejournal.com profile] sundart and I to include our darling Captain Spanky (aka [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess), and at various points of the evening, [livejournal.com profile] morlock, [livejournal.com profile] captainlove, [livejournal.com profile] primitiveboy, [livejournal.com profile] deravyn + fetching captive who kept pleading for release, [livejournal.com profile] somechicksings, [livejournal.com profile] papabearyg, and our downstairs neighbor Clare (jeez, who is the only person in that list without a livejournal - boy, are we geeks or what?), who in the nick of time ran to Stop and shop to replenish our booty trunk when we were running dangerously low. A good time was had by all. Even the kiddies.

We closed up candy shop at 8:15ish, and went upstairs to our adult pirate wonderland, where there was cake, a bit of drink, pirate playmobile, chatting, and a little bit of playing in the kinky sense. Just a little. Also [livejournal.com profile] athene, [livejournal.com profile] jaicat and [livejournal.com profile] lordaerith showed up. [livejournal.com profile] darkling_dreams also showed up to say hello and ooh at our piraty fagginess. Lots of [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess' and [livejournal.com profile] primitive_boy's friends showed up too. And even though I fell asleep for like an hour on the loveseat tucked next to [livejournal.com profile] sundart, party was fun.

Towards the end of the evening things wound down a little, and people started to slowly trickle out. [livejournal.com profile] jaicat and [livejournal.com profile] sundart went to bed, in the room where all the cats were being held prisoner. (brave brave souls.) g.g. and I went out to the porch for a little bit, and did some very helpful mutual bitching (thanks for listening to me gripe, hon!). Lemur + Courtney showed up right around then, and Courtney and I had a little "ah, the joys of pointe shoes" moment (she was dressed as a ballerina, and we had a total lambswool faggotry moment it was cute.) Shortly thereafter the last of the partygoers departed, I released 3 out of 4 felines from captivity (Valentino didn't feel like coming out apparently), had some coffee cake, and wrote this entry.

Halloween was a fucking blast this year. Lets' do this every year. Happy Halloween/Samhain/Pagan New Year/Dio de los Muertos, everyone!!!!

I love that...

  • I got to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters for the first time in years. (Funny how the kids don't stop at The Crackhouse....)

  • we're already talking about what we can do next year. I definitely want to be included in your plans, whether you choose a pirate theme again, or opt for a cemetery (with ghosts and zombies) or a coven (with witches and cauldrons), or a laboratory (with mad scientists and beakers), or....

  • I came home, put away my props, dressed for bed, then settled in to check lj, and was able to experience my wonderful day all over again, in abbreviated form.

Viva la Pirate-Ship Casita!

wow!
