Now granted I am a lot better about this now than I used to be, mostly because I associate with some pretty impatient people, but once upon a time I was compulsive about staying in my seat for the entire length of a movie to the point where my niece and nephew wouldn't go to the movies will me because I'd force them to sit through the credits.

I realize that this is a quirk particular to me (or is it?), and again, I'm better about it than I used to be. But even though I can now get up and leave as the credits are rolling (and will, considering the end credits always seem to correspond to a bus leaving) I still feel horribly guilty about it. Somehow when I was really young I got it into my head that it was beyond rude to all the people that worked on the movie to not stay. Yeah, I know, they don't know about it what do they care, right? Still feel guilty about it. Course, I'm also the person that will sit and hold it for an entire movie rather than get up to go pee. No, seriously, I nearly wet myself at the end of Attack of the Clones. That AND I get real pissy if I'm in any way late for a movie. I don't care if there are 15 minutes of commercials and trailers at the beginning, I LIKE TRAILERS. Yeah. I really don't like sitting down for a movie after it's started.

Of course, this compulsion is occasionally rewarded - I can sit and feel extremely smug about not missing the extra hit with the geek bat at the end of Iron Man while everyone else is all "WAIT I MISSED SOMETHING???" Why yes yes you did, and if you had stayed to acknowledge David Klotz's contribution to the movie in the department of music editing, maybe you wouldn't have, lol.**

**okay, though I admit that the only reason we stuck around last night is cause [livejournal.com profile] morlock knew there was an extra at the end and told us to stay.

I always stay through to the end of credits. I don't know why I started in particular, but I've done it for years.

Everyone I know watches the full credits of movies. (Which is not to say that it isn't a weird quirk...I know a lot of weird people.) Matt is particularly wonderful to do this with, because he remembers the names of the crew from movie to movie and can say things like 'Oh, that's So-and-So, he was a key grip on *insert name of film from 10 years ago* and now he's an assistant director. Nice to see him doing well.'

I refuse to pee in the middle of a movie. And my boy likes to sit through the credits, for whatever reason and I don't mind.

I always stay, unless the people I am with make me leave (like last night with Iron Man). I picked up the habit from my mom, who always stays, because she wants to see who all the actors were, and where they filmed it, and what the music was, and so forth. The whole 'stay because there might be something cool' thing was just an added bonus, a trend that, as far as I noticed, began with Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Credit cookies seem to be the standard now, so I stay if I remember to. Then you get stuff like the Cloverfield credit, which requires you to play it backwards to get the full thing. That's just dastardly.

I love trailers, too. I used to sit through them every time I'd put in a video tape, even if the previews were for movies I'd already seen. I get put out when I miss them in the theater. And I even judge them on their own merit--I will give props for an entertaining trailer when I don't even want to watch the movie, like with Perfume. It's awesome.

I WIN.

also i like staying the whole time too... but lately i've been elaving because they've stopped witht he rewards.

but really i've always loved credits. it comes from old school gaming: if you get to see the credits, you've won the game. you watch those names flying by wih a sense of pride adn accomplishment.
