Ok....I heard the plot was so stupid that it's not worth seeing even though the visuals are insane (and they get on your nerves very quickly). Your opinion? Honestly asking here 'cause we were thinking of going to see it :-)

The plot is decent, but not incredible, but WTF it's SPEED RACER, anyone who watched the old cartoon and expects fucking shakespear needs to be beaten with a fuckin crowbar in the face. It's about a Boy, His family, and his car.

it requires a lot of suspension of disbelief, but it's a car race movie. if you go in expecting candy and the occasional droolage at Christina Ricci, you'll be pleased.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the plot was. Not, note, how complex the plot was. Speed Racer's plot is very very simple, and you can probably anticipate every plot twist after watching the first five minutes. But like a Bollywood movie, it's virtue is simplicity. Sometimes, you just want the hero to be pure and good (if occasionally conflicted), the villain to chew the scenery, and vicariously feel the triumph as good defeats evil against all odds in the last reel.
