This, nation, is a Barcus-Berry Chromatic "AE" Acoustic/Electric Violin. In Amethyst finish. (Also available in what is referred to as "emerald" but is truly a shade of radioactive green that rather amazing and yet not entirely unpleasing to behold.)

I feel like I need to dig my violin out of my closet and practice for a year before I can justify even LOOKING at such a marvelous object. Much less desiring one.

I really need to dig all of my instruments out of my closet and start paying attention to them again. I miss making music as opposed to just listening to it.
