I'm pretty proud of myself today! Only needed one nap, got all the way to the GI's and back on the bus, survived needlepokins (maybe I should have asked to keep my squiddy port) and have homework to do for my doctor. Yes, homework. He wants me to research available medicines, including the ones I'm already on for the crohns and see if I can come up with something that will work for me in terms of sticking to it and effectiveness and see if I can come up with the same conclusions he is working on for me. I also got a lecture about being an "undercomplainer." *shifty eyes* yeah okay, this is one hundred percent true, and I need to fix it so this shit don't happen again. But yeah, I remember this drill from the first time I saw him - he's very into people being whole hog involved in their own care - gods I remember the rigorous diaries he made me keep of stuff the first time I got diagnosed and then he was all like - so. Learn anything about your eating habits? and I was like .... buh? So yeah. Research and monitoring for me. The good news is that starting Friday I can start weaning off the prednizone slowly. I should be off it entirely by thanksgiving.

One whine - there is about 15 extra pounds of water on me. I clocked in at 201 today and had a fleeting moment of vain le sad before I got over it. I know, I know, it'll go away eventually but waaaah okay I'm done.

Gorgeous fall day out today, and it's shaping up to be a beautiful weekend. Actually kind of excited about that. Thing about having surgery, which C pointed out to me, is it definitely kicks your head into appreciating and taking pleasure in small things - a warm purry cat, tea, fall foliage, sunbeams the fact that halloween is on its way, a scalding hot shower, fine cheese, the warmth of other people's skin... Definitely makes things simpler to deal with. It's all like YES DAMN IT YES there are other things in life than being a raging stressmonkey all the time.

...OMG. [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat just came in and gave me my birthday present, which is a season one box set of The Dukes of Hazzard. Y'all know I love that show with all the dorky inappropriateness of fully supporting the Ku Klux Klan if they ever got into the bleach market because you know them sheets will be WHITE (and lemony fresh). Hehehehe. Gonna have to watch those later.

getting annoyed at my hematologist, as she's the last doctor I haven't been able to reach in like jesus. Hello, I kinda need to follow up on this shit? Cause you know, even though the focus has shifted a bit, I still have factor v, and you know, would like to not clot after all this you know? Sheesh.

Am amused by how apeshit Northampton is getting just because Mel Gibson's in town filming a movie. [livejournal.com profile] sundart spotted clearly fake pedestrians at the crosswalk early this morning, which was hilarious. And there are mysterious limos gliding around town. Obviously the PVTA drivers are not pleased by this at all, lol.

I kinda find myself wanting to go see the W. movie when it comes out. Which really says something about the trailer because normally you'd have to bribe me a LOT to voluntarily sit through an Oliver Stone movie. But something about the trailers they've been running got me. I think it's the juxtaposition of Bush's idiocy coupled very effectively with Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime."

And now I go defrost the bathroom in preparation for a long scalding shower. Maybe I'll get the rest of the damn telemetry adhesive off this time?

...Mel Gibson. In NORTHAMPTON. To film a movie.

Right, he has now entirely lost it.

When I saw Richard Dreyfuss in the W. trailer as Dick Cheney, I had to look twice to make sure he wasn't the REAL Dick Cheney. Creepy.

yeah, honestly they did good makeup and casting here. I don't think Josh Brolin is exactly convincing as W but he's got the vocal mannerisms down so who knows it might work.
