I think building high speed and light rail similar to what they have in Europe is a wise investment. This country is way too dependent upon cars, and that's a problem. Gasoline is cheap now because the economy sucks, but being a non-renewable resource, the price is going to go up as demand outstrips supply. Getting people to use public transportation is definitely the way to go. Also, as the article says, this is a great opportunity to create more jobs.
