Weird shit

I've got enough trouble with the concept of contact lenses... but eyeball jewelry???

In other news I dreamed that my dad took me to the Met to see an opera - not really sure which one, I think my brain just mashed together the snippets of stuff I've heard into something vaguely pompous and Italian. But anyway, it was kindof a neat production - it was cast completely with chicks, and they just performed the guys parts in drag, except it was that crazy kind of Elvis Herselvis type of drag king drag. I kinda liked the bearded lady nancing about impersonating Pavorotti, personally.

Anyway. I woke up thinking that might be a fun idea... I mean hell, if they let Baz Luhrmann mess with La Boheme (to great effect)...

Breakfast now.

BEAUTIFUL day out there. I came out of my lab shift this morning to be greeted by yummy warmth and sunshine. Was going to go gymbunny, but this day demands not being cooped up inside, so once I swap out some wash and reprogram my nomad for pounding biking techno, I'm hitting the trail. I think today's the day I check out what the other end of it looks like.

In other news - saw Hobiecat! Like yay. It's kinda ridiculous how we live in the same goddamn town and never see each other...

ah well.

I really like the theme from Futurama. Been listening to it over again several times this morning. It's definitely growing on me like a fungus.

off I go.

hoo boy. I think I broke myself from the waist down. My legs are solid slabs of well-punished muscle. And man, does that feel good. I must be in slightly better shape than I thought - two years ago 20 miles had me in ice for a night and generally sobbing for three days. Now I think I'll be good by tomorrow night.

I went 23 miles today - basically from home all the way to the end of the Norwottock trail and back. No wonder my hips feel a bit like they're going to fall out of their sockets. Can't wait until [livejournal.com profile] sundart gets a bike - it looks like there are some pretty hiking trails at the end of the trail.

Note to self: the trick to making lemon-lime powerade actually taste good rather than like well-sugared monkeybutt is to get really fucking thirsty first. I need a water bottle thingie on my bike. feh. But it's good to know there's a vending machine in the back of Pete's Drive-In.

I wonder - if I kept following the tracks at the end of the trail, would I eventually get to [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull's? Must find out sometime.

Such a gorgeous day. Glad I went and soaked up some sun.

Came home, chatted with [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess for a bit, found that [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah, [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull, and quite possibly [livejournal.com profile] dionethoughts had come over and kidnapped my girlfriend. :) I think they went to the Bizarre Bazaar, which I had forgotten about. Ah well. Hope they're having fun. There's always next year.

Hot shower now. Then stuff face more. Holy crap, I'm hungry.

update... um... That's never happened before... I looked into the mirror just before I got in the shower and my face was completely covered in salt deposits. Bizarre...
