Well shit.

I've heard somewheres that you don't sleep unless you absolutely need to sleep. Last night soon after my last post I adjourned to bed with sundart for cuddling, a promised backrub using the weird bar of massagey goodness we got from jaicat, and oops - I went to sleep. at some obscene hour, like 8:30. Which I suppose is good, considering I was awake at 5 yesterday morning but... still. Anyway, my eye don't pop back open until about 5:45 this morning.

*giggle*

Well, I've got a little bit of running about before I head to work this morning and I have to redump my music back onto the iThing, which is going to take forever, so I'd better get going. I must take special care to put some Ray Charles on, RIP. *sad sigh* One of my favorite songs is "Hit the road, Jack."

Well, if today is the Universe's way of apologizing wholeheartedly for the stupid heatwave on Tuesday and Wednesday, apology accepted.

Made myself late to work this morning waiting for my music library to recopy to my iThing. Told myself sternly that I had to stay until two as "punishment." Wound up staying until three finishing a project. This is not a bad thing. :)

As an aside, I forgot to mention yesterday that some days I'm rather astounded by my musical memory. I can usually remember songs well enough to recognize them by their first three notes after three or four hearings. And I'm pretty good at recognizing melodies when they're played to me or hummed or what have you. It may not be instantaneous, but the Musical Ass usually pops out the right answer... yesterday sundart was trying valiantly to hum a song at me in some attempt to find out what it was - it was one of those songs that she knew neither the lyrics or the band to, and it was driving her nuts. What didn't help was that the tune she was humming sounded funny and off key... anyway, besides the tune, and "it's sung by chicks" and the line "Around the world" I didn't have all that much to work with... and then maybe twenty minutes later my brain popped out "Oh hey, I know that, it's a B-52's song..." Which later turned out to be "Roam." Go me.

Anyway... today was really chill and low key. Now that I'm home I'm listening to Austin tell me about her now collection of Homosocial Movies, and planning something to nibble on and my to-do list for the weekend...
