If anyone out there in the Valley is still awake, I highly recommend stepping outside, going someplace fairly dark, and looking directly up into the face of Mother Night. The stars are so clear and diamond bright they can cut through glass, and for the first time in forever I could see the faint spidery arm of the Milky Way, not to mention the individual Pleiedes.

You know what I'd like for my birthday? A blanket, a thermos full of cocoa, a clear moonless night like this one, two or three hours, and someplace just far enough away from civilization where I can stare upwards and see the stars in all their glory.

Good things about today:
  • Gettinging a few steps closer to unravelling the MySQL mystery I'm currently embroiled in. It's rather fascinating. Also, I'm going to have monster check next week - I've been putting in nearly full days. Ka-Ching.

  • Getting picked on by John over a rather unfortunately timed exclamation. I was working on above puzzle and singing along to "Sunshine of your love" and realized that I'd made a mistake, so what left my mouth was "I've been waiting so long/To be where I'm goin'/In the sunshine of your - SHIT!" I've been hearing about the sunshine of my shit all day. ;)

  • I have rice dream now. The Honey Nut Cheerios don't stand a chance. They will be MINE.

  • running into [livejournal.com profile] somechicksings and... damn it, what's S's LJ? I can't remember for the life of me. Anyway, I ran into them literally five feet from the office. oh yeah, before I forget... hey, [livejournal.com profile] somechicksings...

    HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

I really need to remember my line about how I don't need a helmet cause I've got G-zus at appropriate times though. Or I should just give up and start wearing mine, either way.

  • Planning a mix CD! Drat, no blanks though. Grrr.
Bad things about today:
  • I thought I was going to get to come home in time to at least kiss [livejournal.com profile] sundart goodbye, but between leaving work kinda late and going to Brake and Consume, she was gone by the time I did get home. Mrrreh.

  • Calling Stanley back after getting his message from [livejournal.com profile] beatgoddess and finding out that not only is Mom back in the hospital, but she's gotten worse. *facepalm* She's actually been in for a few days, but everyone's been too crazy to try to call me about it. Which I understand really. I mean, I don't have that good of a track record as to getting located me on the phone (note the semester long disappearing act) plus really, what am I good for anyway besides entertaining Mom. Between the four actual responsible grown ups she can call her children and Dad, they're pretty capable of dealing with stuff. Anyway, Stanley gave me Mom's number, but it looks like no one's taken care of her phone service today, 'cause I couldn't get through.

But yeah. There will definitely be trip to NY this weekend. ([livejournal.com profile] jaicat, what are you up to, out of curiosity? IM me)

  • Even before all that I was kinda twitchy to begin with. Like, two cups of coffee worth of twitchy, even though I only had one. I think R got espresso or something last time she bought the office coffee - the past two days I swear I got the caffiene kick to the proverbial nads. Yikes.

  • Been living in my own headspace lately, working out some stuff. Actually this isn't bad, just kinda meh.

  • Still haven't gotten my two postal obligations done yet, damn it. Tonight for sure.

  • STILL friggin' hacking up a lung periodically. Owwwwww. *growl bitch*
Hmm. Time for the cheerios now, I think. And a turkey sammich. Mmmm. Must remember to actually eat if I'm going to be at work longer this week.

Well, I was in a blue funk for much of this afternoon and didn't feel like doing anything truly constructive. So what did I do? I made an icon!

It's another karaoke icon, like the Penis Truck one I did a while back. The idea is you're supposed to be able to sing along to it. sorta. anyway, I'm rather proud of it. I may tweak it a little later on (some of the words are a little close to the edge) but overall I think I did a spanking good job.

My mood's only a little better, though. Plus the back of my trachea is all raw from the cough, and I want something really cold to soothe it with. I'm finding myself thinking longingly of the Oreo cookie Breyer's in [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat's freezer from Saturday night. :P
