kjpepper: (underpants!)
Spaceballs of course kicked all the ass it was supposed to. Bonus was that the print they screened must have been a test print, cause they'd obviously hadn't finished a few shots yet (one of Mega Maid against a plain black background, the shadow of the Eagle 5 landing on planet Spaceball as opposed to the actual winnebago, Lone Star pointing the ring of the schwartz at a blue screen rather than at Mega Maid) and also hadn't quite finished editing (there were a few extended shots of scenes here and there) and some of the dialog was extended or swapped out or dubbed funny (the usual print of the movie actually has Vespa singing in a low register, this one had a guy's voice dubbed in, the line "I hear she gives great helmet" was missing entirely, and the "That was pretty good for Rambo" was apparently originally the title of this entry). Which made it kinda more fun cause you could sit there and play "Spot the difference! Whee."

Those bits aside, wow. There is something about that opening slow pan of Spaceball One where it just goes friggin' on forever on the big screen that was worth the admission price all its own. Tthat and as [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat said repeatedly, seeing the movie in all it's swear word infested glory, since the "He's an Asshole, sir" sequence just loses something on broadcast TV. (This is why I have it on DVD. :) ) Plus I love the Friday Night Rewinds - there's something really special about going to see a movie you love on a big screen with a theater full of people you know and who are equally obsessed with said movie that makes me extremely happy.

Next month, THE PRINCESS BRIDE!!! Who's with me??

Speaking of identifiable members of the Incestovalley and other associated nerds and geeks, people I was pleased to see there: [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah, [livejournal.com profile] reverend_tom, [livejournal.com profile] iona_dreaming, [livejournal.com profile] emily_1126, [livejournal.com profile] drklord1922, [livejournal.com profile] firetiger0903 (nice to meet you guys finally! yay!), [livejournal.com profile] wrpigeek, and [livejournal.com profile] jade_eyes13.

Lordnlady, but I desperately needed a good night after this hellacious week. The above, the fact that I got to take a nap with [livejournal.com profile] morlock before the movie, and [livejournal.com profile] sydneycat's relentless bouncing about her good night made this one sweeeeeeet. Thank you universe.

Of course my week was already on the mend, as earlier today more hilarity and mayhem ensued from my having a Brooklyn based cell phone as opposed to a Massachusetts one.
[Entrance Hall Theme begins playing on cell phone. Call is from unfamiliar number]

Me: Hello?
Chickie: Yes this is Working Assets... One of our customers cannot identify your telephone number on his long distance bill. Do you know a W. [usual mangling of [livejournal.com profile] sundart's very Polish last name by a telephone service worker]
Me: [laughing my ass off] Yes, that's my partner's father... this is my cell phone number.
Chickie: ... ah. Your name?
Me: [still laughing] [gives her the name]
Chickie: All righty, we'll tell him. Thank you.

[five minutes later, phone at Castle Z. rings]

[livejournal.com profile] mythmaster: Hello?
Me: So. Don't know who I am, huh?
[livejournal.com profile] mythmaster: [laughs]

Wow. Working assets will hunt down unfamiliar phone numbers for you, that's awesome. I think the call was from when [livejournal.com profile] zadnyl was trying to coordinate their visit. But the entire thing did give me a much needed giggle for the day. So thanks for teh laugh, [livejournal.com profile] mythmaster. :)

And now to commence long weekend of much chilling the fuck out. Ahhh.
kjpepper: (pissed Devi (going to shoot you))
Jeez, not three days after I finally transfer my carefully nurtured black coleus clipping into a pot, it's gone. Somebody ate the damn thing.

Not like I can't get another one, but still, argh. I see a cat fur glove, tam and muff set in my future.
