Sep. 1st, 2007 01:52 pmGrandma Ruth's service and burial was lovely. It's funny, everyone says at these sorts of gatherings "why don't we all see each other more often?" but it really is true that you can't get all the family as coordinated as you can for either a wedding or a funeral. At any rate, some sort of thing sounds like it will be organized at S & O's club in DC at some point. I'll be sure to attend that.
This city is so strange in how hidden pockets of it hold memory for me. The area around Grandma's church especially. If you'd asked me three hours ago if I'd ever been there I would have said no, but after going upstairs to the sanctuary after the reception, I remembered the occasional service we attended with Grandma there when I was very very young. And sitting in an actual pew I got slammed with a vivd memory of sitting next to my cousin J at Nonnie's funeral back when I was nine. It's been an interesting trip, no doubt.
Good news is I may actually make it to Faire tomorrow. :) The sisters have offered me a ride there, and I can probably come back down with _kyri. Some planning is in order. Plus I should call bellarisa about later Sunday or mondayish.
Not sure what I'm doing for the rest of today. Honestly I feel quite a bit like zonking out in front of the TV for a while. Amastan suggested the zoo, but I'm half dead and so are they, so I think we just might stay around the hotel and chill. I'm so mad I don't have my bathing suit too. Every time I go anywhere hotel-like I forget my damn suit and always want to go in the pool. Especially since I could use some James Brown Celebrity Hot Tub right about now.
