kjpepper: (base kleo)
Yesterday was mostly a collection of irritations not worth mentioning individually, except for one thing.

All hail the magic of the internet. It allows you to stumble upon tv shows from a foreign market that aren't going to cross the pond for a while. In this case, it's BBC's "Being Human." The simplest synopsis I can think of is "a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost are sharing an apartment. Mayhem (and much witty conversation) ensues." Really I had only one minor complaint which the cliche-ness of one particular plot point, but the rest of it's brilliantly funny and the three leads play off each other very very well.

Mitchell: So, you've just arrived at Hogwarts, which house do they put you in?
George: I'd like to say Gryffindor, but they're supposed to be brave. What's the other one? Ravenclaw, does that have a characteristic?
Mitchell: I think they're brainy. You could be in Ravenclaw.
Annie: I quite fancy Hufflepuff actually. I've always thought in Hufflepuff they just spend the day making stuff with safety scissors and glitter.
George: What about you?
Mitchell: I think that they'd say. It's probably best if you just stay in the canteen for the next five years.
Annie: Does anyone ever 'choose' Slytherin?
George: No, because that would be like saying 'I'm a sociopath.'

From what I can gather it's just a pilot, so if you're in sniffing distance of the BBC or its web site, or can use the magic of the internet, watch it and bug them for more. It looks like a lot of fun.

- done with drivers ed as of tomorrow except for two sessions I'm going to have to make up in April. That shouldn't be a problem. Will be glad to not have to see the demon teenagers anymore.

- have first official get-yelled-at-by-a-professional driving lesson on Thursday. I haven't been behind the wheel in... four years. Certainly not since getting hit. Little tweaky about it to tell the truth. But kinda also like "bring it." We'll see what I have to work on, and then I have to commence practicing like a fiend. Basically I'm shooting for mid-may for my road test, and I know what they're going to ask me to do and roughly where it's gonna be, so... game on.

- Nuke called yesterday about the car, which I've decided to name Nekobasu ("Catbus"). Mostly because it practically is a bus already (1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera). Parking that thing is going to be such fun. *sigh* It turns out that she's heading to Boston sometime at the end of next month and may be willing to drive it out here from Buffalo with the title. She also said she'd get it tuned, realigned and replace the tires for me. Wheeeee.

- Can anyone reading this in the area recommend a good insurance agent around here? Otherwise I'm going to stick with Webber & Grinnell.

- Think after I get the whole insurance thing squared away and I've driven it for a bit, I'll buy vanity plates. They're actually not as ridiculously priced as I was led to believe. And CATBUS has the right number of letters.
