Spreading the joy and spices

Quite possibly the cruelest thing you can do to someone who ias just risen zombie like from their slumber and who is totally unenthused about starting their day is to sing "It's a Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood" and dance at them.

No worries, sydneycat quite thoroughly tickled me for that particular offense.

But seriously? it is a gorgeous day out there. It's a real pity I'm going to spend it cooped up in my office.

Just now I slipped out of the office to pick up something to drink at State Street Fruit. I immediately hear a familiar bass line from the line of cars waiting for the light along the other side of the street. Much to my delight, the bass line was the beginning of Midnight Oil's "Beds are Burning."

I love me some Midnight Oil. And they're just obscure enough that I had to literally give a shout out to whichever of the cars was playing it. So I was all like "MIDNIGHT OIL WHOO" and threw up the horns. A startled redheaded kid in a beat up compact looks at me and grins... and turns it up just for me. Whereupon I proceeded to make an ass of myself by dancing and singing the damn song the rest of the way down the street.

I return to the office, drink in hand, to find that Twinky Assistant is blasting the soundtrack to Mortal Kombat.

Musically at least, today is now officially excellent.
