kjpepper: (cute goth me)
[personal profile] kjpepper
slow day today, spent much of it wandering Arstechnica, rereading a particularly good Moulin Rouge fanfic I'd discovered a couple of years ago, and cleaning the kitchen with [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch. Much as I love home cooked masterpieces, they almost aren't worth the amount of dishes they generate. Ugh. :) on the other hand our teakettle is so shiny angels weep at the sight of its polished surface.

About 4 o'clock I took off on my bike downtown to pick up the cubic assload of sixflags pics I got developed for [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull, [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch, and [livejournal.com profile] sundart. (thank goodness for bulk discounts and the fact that I knew they existed beforehand. However, they don't quite make up for being charged for doubles. Stupid digital developing. Bash it good.) Still there was something very satisfying about picking up a ginormous envelope of pictures, and the five more I had to put through the machine today for [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull didn't give me a problem, so that was all good. I'll be able to give her a complete set at Haven tonight.

I kinda wish I'd known Haven was having an ice cream party tonight... otherwise I might not have indulged myself in a positively heavenly cup of cookies and creme while I was waiting for the last five pics to come through and sorting through the hundred and fifty odd pics I'd already had. Not that I regret the spontaneous treat. If I ever get out of the Pioneer Valley, I am definitely going to miss Herrell's cookies n creme - it's quite possibly the best example of that flavor that exists, in my humble opinion.

Back to the camera shop, where I promptly fell in love with this fully loaded Canon SLR digital camera the salesguy let me play with while I waited some more for my pictures. Holy mother of god, the lust was dripping off of me as I played with focusing, and held down the shutter to test the 3 pics per second continuous... whatever you call it when you can do that. ;) unfortunately I don't think i've ever had a grand to my name at once, much less to spare on really really l33t digicams. But I think I know what sort of toy I want to save up for this year, if not that exact one. If I was going to get an SLR I'd get a Nikon and recycle some of Dad's lenses for his.

On the way home on my bike I found myself thinking of someone I hadn't given much thought to in nearly a year. *wistful sigh* I do wonder sometimes how Wyeth is doing. *sigh* now there was a mysterious one, almost frustratingly so. But dear god, he was facinatingly beautiful, in face, in intellect and in personal darkness. I'd give him a what-the-hell-how-are-you? phone call, but it seems I have at last forgotten the first three digits of his phone number. Memory's a fucked up thing sometimes. I can still recite [livejournal.com profile] harinezumi's old address in the friggin Bronx fer chrissakes (and he hasn't lived there in almost ten years), but meanwhile I'd forgotten current phone numbers for damn near everyone.

And then there's the wandering fucknut that's trolling my LJ an entry back. These people don't piss me off, even though I know they should, but they are wonderful test targets for the oatmeal cannon, and somehow messing with them fills me with inordinate, maniacal glee.

ah well. I'd best start getting dressed for Haven... and figure out precisely how we're prettying up [livejournal.com profile] birkwelch for the occasion. That'll be a challenge, making Goldenrod fit into the black and silver crowd, but it should be fun nonetheless. *smirk* It's not everyday that you get a guy who will actually sit still for the application of liner and lipstick.
