I got very little sleep due to my throat waking me up at 1am and keeping me up until four. which is bad enough on a normal day, but supremely unfair when you have to catch a 7am bus. beatgoddess, for the emergency opening of the Crusty Camel Cafe (mmm, toast and chicken salad...) and the BeatBox Apothecary - whatever you made me take, I'm sure it's helping. Especially as I felt normal for about half an hour this morning.
HCC was a clusterfuck of bureaucratic hell this morning, who's surprised. Good news is I was done by about 9, so I got to come home early. Which is especially good because holy crap do I feel like complete and utter shit. I think I've picked up some sort of nasty throat infection from the feel of it. Swallowing, coughing and speaking are really interesting right now, which is unfortunate considering I have to do a lot of the first two. Nobody home who's awake, so I can spare my vocal cords for now. Waiting patiently for the sudafed I just took to kick in and drinking a ton of water in the meantime, and trying to resist the urge to leap up and throttle the landscapers next door who are currently filling my already miserable little world with noise and the noxious scent of grass cuttings.
Called in sick to work, am going to stay home, hide from the sun, and try to rest.
In news that doesn't involve my throat (except for not being able to sing) once I managed to figure out the various vagaries of everyday operation of the iThing, I'm happy to say that I'm quite pleased with it. Will probably leave it to pick up the rest of my music whilst I go moan quietly to myself and reread the Black Jewels trilogy. Send me some good vibes, y'all.
