Why are spokespeople for collect call services so annoying? is it part of the job description?

i think they start out being really nice, and then they run into tons of people who are asshats to them and it hardens their souls.

besides, if you are really annoying, then the person calling won't want you to call back, and pay their bill.

see? easy.
