Senior Year of High School meme (stoled from
nepenthe01)
Jan. 24th, 2005 05:42 pmOooh memage! Cause you know, I can't come up with original content this week. :P Or maybe just today...
[What year was it?]
95/96
[What were your three favorite bands?]
Nine Inch Nails, Collective Soul, um.... oh yeah, Aerosmith.
[What was your favorite outfit?]
Reebok high top xtrainers, jeans, turtleneck. Depending on season, covered with T-shirt, sweatshirt, or overlong sweater. Not much really changed.
[What was up with your hair?]
Not much changed here either. High school was the start of the yarn thing, after all. Except then it was full spectrum yarn. Mine eyes, they bleed. Or rather other people's did...
[Who were your best friends?]
My best friend officially was Karolina Matynia, but I also clocked a lot of deep conversation time with the two boys I had things for at the time - those being Wyeth Peterson during the school week and
harinezumi on the weekend.
[What did you do after school?]
Devised ways of staying out of the house for as long and as late as possible, since my parents were several shades too heavy on the sheltering side growing up and once I came home at night I was stuck there. I didn't do anything exciting mind you, just filled my afterschool time with String Ensemble, violin lessons, teching for the school theater productions or fooling around in the Media Lab.
[Did you take the bus?]
Subway, then bus. I was a 2 fare zone kid at my school, cause this was before they did the whole Metrocard thing in NY. They'd hand out colored transportation passes at the beginning of each month, and you had to be wicked careful not to lose them.
And then some mornings Mom would drive me and shudder at my musical taste. She did develop an appreciation for Blues Traveler and Dave Matthews though.
[Who did you have a crush on?]
See best friends.
[Did you fight with your parents?]
I avoided talking to them for the most part. Conversation was pretty pointless as it usually surrounded how I should be focussing my energy on my homework.
[Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?]
I had a pointed disdain for celebrity crushes at this time. It's why I hated Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp growing up.
[Did you smoke cigarettes?]
No. But since a lot of my friends were from Europe, I've learned not to mind smoke.
[Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?]
No... that's stupid.
[Did you have a 'clique'?]
Nah, I was kinda the socially accepted loner. Everyone was nice to me, but I didn't really have a crowd I fit in with all the time.
[Did you have "The Max" like Zach, Kelly and Slater?]
wha?
[Admit it, were you popular?]
Notoriously weird, more like.
[Who did you want to be just like?]
The Fan twins. Yow. Sa. Gorgeous identical goth girls from Singapore (so on top of being hotter than equatorial sunshine, they have wonderful accents as well). Lillian and Pauline, I think. They were probably the convincing argument as to my bisexuality, though I didn't like, want them, I just wanted to BE them. Well one of them, anyway....
[What did you want to be when you grew up?]
A psychiatrist, or a writer. Heh.
[Where did you think you'd be at the age you are now?]
I honestly didn't know at the time. I just knew it involved open sunny windows and cats. And getting some on a regular basis. Definitely that. I sorta expected I'd be back in NY by now...
Right. Swapping out the laundry andgoing out to tinker with my curiously dead red and black friend now. bitching to our landlord for the second time today and convincing him that he really needs to come out here and fix the blower. Score one for me.
