kjpepper: (we're just kids (morlock))

Wow... long weekend - but a fun one! Let me explain... no there is too much, let me sum up.

Thursday:
We were kidnapped by the [livejournal.com profile] gossamer_gull and taken to the wilds of Three Rivers on thursday night - spent the usual car ride playing catchup and getting groceries for the weekend. I took some preliminary pics of her, sort of gearing up for the photo project I want to do with her sometime soon. Ah, that reminds me - need to find the usb cable that goes with my camera after I'm done with this...

Friday:
Woke up fairly early and did a little shopping with g.g. at the dollar store and this enormous used bookstore called the Book Bear... which had a rather daunting selection of old science fiction. I managed to find something cool though - first edition paperbacks of Dragonlance Chronicles I and II, which I always wanted to own. (I never liked the covers in subsequent editions). Didn't find III, but I suppose that's what half.com is for. Yes, I'm a geek, and yes, with advancing age the sillier these books are, but hey, I liked them when I was a tween, so nyeh. :) I also rediscovered an old edition of Cinefantastique magazine - did anyone used to read that? it was a cheap rag mostly focussing on science fiction and horror movies, though they would also feature action movies with cool F/X, cause most of their content was reviewing makeup and effects... I wonder if it still exists? I used to love it as a kid when my sister had a subscription and it was still circulating up until 1998... worth checking. If they are, I'll probably subscribe - they were wicked cool.

After a hearty lunch in Ware, and a stop for g.g.'s doctor's visit, it was home again with us! inle came home around then too, and we settled in for a night of mostly finishing out the second season of Angel and a wee bit o' Buffy.

Saturday:
More Buffy, with the addition of [livejournal.com profile] ladygwyn. We're now on... lets see, ep 13, I think of Buffy season 6, and 12 of Angel season 3. Highlights? Well... I'm still pretty amused by "Numfar! Do the dance of joy/honor/shame!" obviously "Once More with Feeling" was wicked cool, Willow's ongoing moral degeneration is interesting, and I actually really like Fred. I'm pleased by the concept of seeing more of Spike nekkid. The three floating witches with the inexplicable fascination for Angel. And even though they make really lame villains, I must say the three geeks do amuse. If in the "I'm going to raise a goose egg on my forehead from the number of times I have to smack it in amused exasperation... like the super tricked out van with the horn that plays... the Star Wars theme. I can't really talk about that, cause I've got a music box that plays that, but really... *headsmack*

I also got the sort of computer spring cleaning stuff done on my computer that's just impossible with a permanent broadband connection... but I cleaned up my harddrive a bit, bitched at the fact that dell laptop batteries implode the second the warrenty expires, and virus checked the hell out of it - at some point I'll defrag too. Need more RAM and a wireless card on this thing though. *sigh*

g.g., meanwhile, was doing this awsome craft with a book that's given me, and apparently [livejournal.com profile] sundart some interesting crafting ideas. I needs must find me a big old fat Econ textbook now... *creative cackle*

[livejournal.com profile] inle_rah, I hope your back feels better. It's really not fun when your vertebrae go sproing on you and then a cat scratch can make your back sieze up so hard you cry. *gentle hugs* that wasn't cool. Still, despite back stupidness, she managed to cableknit herself some eyepoppingly cool elbow length fingerless gloves. Hear that fizzing noise? it's the sould of me drooling onto my keyboard and it short circuiting. The crackhouse ladies are some crafting goddesses, lemme tell ya.

Sunday:
Woke up early to the sonorous tones of g.g.'s alarm (how she manages to not shoot that thing every morning is beyond me... however I'm reminded of the time sunny and I came back home after a game weekend to find our own alarm clock forcibly unplugged and thrown onto a chair across the room cause we'd left it on by mistake. *chuckle*), and then had breakfast and chats with [livejournal.com profile] inle_rah before watching the "Wrecked" ep of Buffy. Inle packed us up and drove us home, with a stop at the Rt 9 diner for lunch, and now here we are.

Not sure what's up with the rest of the day, but I know it includes a shower. :) Tempted to run around tonight but I might do a rare thing these days and stay home... donno yet...
